Good day all,

I am new to Medicare and just recently got a postive Lyme test. My doctor jokingly said that if I wanted treatment with Rocephin I should plan on selling my house as it was very expensive. I don't have prescription coverage but I wondered if anyone here has been through Lyme with Medicare and how they were about paying for tests and/or treatments.

Thanks

They pay for my tests no problem. If you get your infusions at your doc's office or the hospital (outpatient), its all paid for by medicare. If you get them at your house, the nursing and supplies are paid for, but not the medicine itself. Depending upon your income, you can apply to the company that makes Rocephin to receive it for free. And then there is the possibility that "new medicare prescription plan" will pay for SOME of the rocephin come Jan '06 (total crap-shoot) and you try oral drugs in the meantime...
