For those who don't know our story, I was bitten by 'the' tick in 1983 and went on a 21 year trek searching for the answer to my failing health.

I had a new home built in 1981. Prior to that tick bite, I had been the proverbial energizer bunny -- extremely organized, productive, full of energy, love of life, and exercised regularly. My health took an immediate and continual downward spiral. I'd done nothing but go from doctor to doctor for the past 21 years.

By the year 2000, I had so much medical debt I realized I could no longer afford to keep my home. I sold it that year and we've been renting an old 5 bedroom home in the country since then. Despite our efforts, the basement is full of black and white mold and has contributed to preventing us from regaining our health.

When we sold our home, we knew our credit rating was so poor, medical debt so deep that we'd more than likely never be able to secure a mortgage loan. Interestingly, we have zero debt aside from wasted 'duck debt' -- no credit card debt, no car loans, absolutely nothing but medical debt.

A very nice, reasonably priced home was recently put on the market in our town. We swallowed our pride and made an appointment with the banker, all the while thinking he would laugh us out of the bank. Quite the contrary. As we visited with him, we explained that the entire family had lyme disease and I'd had it the longest.

He said he'd never, ever encountered a credit history quite like ours. He said it was unique for the simple fact that we had no debt other than medical. After reviewing our credit history, it was very plain to see exactly what had happened to us, and why.

He commended us for keeping our heads above water, making wise decisions regarding our no credit card policy, no extravagant spending, no new cars, etc. Ultimately, he was unable to help us out with a mortgage loan.

We had anticipated such an outcome, but he treated us so kindly and with such respect, I left the bank with happy tears streaming down my face. I think I'm so used to being kicked around by ducks, disbelieving family members and friends, that I'm touched to the point of tears when someone reaches out to me.

We recently had a sudden, unexpected, and very happy turn of events! Someone very near and dear to our hearts (who will remain anonymous) purchased the home for us and we are purchasing it from them on contract!

We are currently in the midst of moving to our near-new, mold-free home! There really are angels watching over us, and we are so very thankful.

P.S. I probably won't be posting much until we get settled in. We have a house full of antiques to move, and two rooms upstairs are literally packed to the ceiling with them!

It's wonderful that you're getting your new home!!
I definitely agree - angels are watching over you!

A lot of people here on LymeNet have stories that also show that angels are watching over us.

Biting back. I am really happy for you!
We get so many non-tangible blessings...and here is one that you can hold onto and see. We need that once in a while.
Also, congratulations on your credit history. That is amazing considering the medical. I hope you enjoy the house and some peace.

Best Wishes,
Suz

Biting Back, remember to thank and acknowledge your angels often. I realized three years ago my angels were guiding me. It's funny what you realize when you really slow down your life and pay attention.

May this be a beginning of healing times for you and your family.

Take care, Pam

Have you considered getting some of those antiques assessed? Some of them are often amazingly desirable and people will pay fortunes for them. Maybe you could sell a few and pay off your debt - or at least part of it.

Glad you have a new house and a new start!

God Bless Biting Back,,,

I know God has a plan for all of us..I know we are all here for a reason.. and although life may not take us down the road we would choose to be on.. that there is a reason why we are on the road we are given... mostly to learn, share and touch those along lifes way ...

as I usually say .." God will not give us more than we can handle, what he does give us, is given to make us stronger for the road that lies ahead..and while we may hope and pray for something that may mean more to us than anything.. there is a reason why life's highway turns us onto another road... after all the raod we may be hoping for may be a road that will put us on a collision with disaster.."

God knows which road is best for us. we just need to trust Him to steer us instead of trying to steer ourselves...
Glad your road has turned to ease your pain..

Thank you ALL for your kind wishes, thoughts and replies. This is a very exciting time for us. Exhausting, but exciting.

We have so many antiques we had to rent two storage sheds for them. They're scheduled to go to the auction house in January. We're keeping some of the smalls to sell on Ebay to support our drug habits (antibiotics, etc). Kurt's been doing Ebay for several years now and the extra income comes in handy when we have to pay the LLMD and other associated expenses. Makes me rather angry to have to sell our antiques because we're so ill, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. That being said, they are just things, and the important things in life aren't things.

Yes, God is good!

Thanks guys, your support is awesome and I appreciate all of you!
