Hey del....me again! Why don't you post this over in Medical Questions? Very few Lymenetters frequent the General Support section. Sad, but true!
We want you to get as many responses as possible!
As for your question, hyperacusis and photosensitivities are definite Lyme problems in my opinion.
With Lyme, NOTHING makes sense!!!!! Posted by cbb (Member # 788) on :
Miss Tutu is right. You're likely to get more info under Med Ques.
Edit to add: Don't know why, but link brings up LymeInfo files. Click "Symptoms" & you'll find the info. Also, it's been revised slightly from my copy.
It's 47 pages of excellent info (symptoms with citations) page 6: Hearing - Hypersensitivity to sound page 7-9: Eyes - Photophobia (oversensitivity to light) pages 21-32: Neurological System
It's long but very educational!! If you think your neurologist would read it, take a copy. If not, don't waste the paper.
Don't know much about your situation, but I recommend you make an appt with a Lyme Literate Med Dr (LLMD) for a thorough evaluation.
I'm not a dr, but in my opinion, it's possible that you have Lyme and/or Co-Infections. A LLMD will track down the reason for your problems instead of just treating the symptoms.
Go to Seeking a Dr here on LymeNet. Put your location in the title & info will be sent to you (Personal Message).
Also, on the left, check Support Groups in your state & surrounding states. They should have good info about LLMDs they recommend.
You need to be sure you see a LLMD who has lots of "satisfied customers", not just someone who is "labeled" a Lyme specialist. Sometimes they really aren't.

Two previous posts correct...medical questions better answered over there...
Anyway...you have a supreme duck(quack) for a neurologist... Giving you meds with no diagnosis is criminal...
The left side pain (with stiffness in neck) I presume is indication you have neuroboreliosis/encephylitis/meningitis...call it what you want you need abx's fast...the other symptoms are classic with lyme also..

From past experience with neurontin: It makes your brain like mush....(although it might help the neruopathy in your case crainal pain) I was on it when I had left side neuropathy and it made me unable to focus and I had to withdraw from school for medical reasons.
I have found that Vantin (a third class cephlasporin) worked much better at giving me brain function and the neuropathy calmed down while on other antibiotics.. ..
I think your neurologist needs a wake up call. I went to an LLMD for the antibiotics since my symptoms were numerous and I have seen so much damage being done by wrong diagnosis, so many times I fail to see the medical field as a science any longer. It appears to be more of a roll of the dice than a educated prognosis..
Give it a whirl and if you get no where with your NEuro then find an llmd.. they will get you on the right track...and you will feel better,, over all I can bet my life on that statement.. Everyone in my family has felt much better on treatment and their health is no longer deteriorating.. keep us posted!
