Maybe this show was intevitable, but this is one of the most irresponsible things I've heard about. Sounds like the UK version of fear factor...but with a horrific twist
Totally stupid! But aren't most of the "reality" shows in this country stupid too? That is one hell of a risk to take, to go into tick and leech ridden country. I hope they change their minds.
The people doing this stuff are celebrities. What kind of contracts would they sign to take such risks? Maybe they have stand-ins.
People like Dennis Rodman and George Hamilton are supposed to be on this show.

Ann, nobody who knows anything about LD would ever sign up for this... to me, it's really a sign of all the inadequate reporting that's been done on the disease and the lack of coverage it's gotten in the mainstream press.
Like you, I would be interested in seeing the contract they have to sign...and I also wonder if the producers and photographers have to sign something similar.

I hope to goodness Jimmy Osmond doesn't do this. He lives here in our town, and I'd hate to think he'll change the lives of his family forever if he gets Lyme disease or some other horrible disease. He has several beautiful children. [who can keep up with how many? ]

The producers are irresponsible but the people who go onto the show are just plain pathetic. To be so desperate for attention that you would subjest yourself to this.
Of course most of them are probable totally ignorant about the real dangers cuz the medical profession gives all kinds of warnings to the public. They even have an MD on staff???????????
The only way to stop this stuff is dont watch but there must be tons of people who do watch cuz there are lots of reality shows. Reality, thats a joke but noone seems to care.
In the US you can write the Corporations who sponsor such programs and threaten them with your $$$ but I dont know who you could write for BBC

OMG that is beyond stupid. It's practically criminal.
There are so many stupid 'reality' shows here that are getting more desperate and pathetic by the day - this is why I watch less and less TV.

i'd wager that a significant number of people in these usa surivor shows, and the like, must have insect-borne infections from guatemalan and other jungles, forests... if i didn't have lyme, and i were TBD-naive, i'd seriously consider doing this.
