Hey gang. As some of you know, my mother had a devastating stroke [her 4th] last March. She has been in a nursing home ever since, unable to sit or stand and is on a feeding tube.
Now she's in the hospital with congestive heart failure and kidney failure. She also has an infection....and they don't know where it is.
The doctors suggest ceasing treatment. I have to meet with a "paliative care" group tomorrow and work out details. We may return her to the nursing home and call in hospice.
Please keep my mom and our family in your prayers. Thank you ever so much.

So, so sorry to hear what your Mom and your family are going through. Had a similar situation with my father, so I understand how difficult it is. If I can help in any way, you know where I am.
Will pray that you and your family receive strength and peace as you make difficult decisions.
When you have time, please give us updates on how your mom and you are doing. Love and support!!!!

Your have my sincerest good thoughts. I hope her passing is as swift and peacefull as possible and that all of you are able to accept her new presence in your life.
I went thru the same thing and felt relief for my Mom when she was finally made the crossing.
I say "new presence" cuz she is still here. Talking about her and remembering special and everyday times keeps her spirit close by. Even those little irritating things now bring pleasure and laughter.

lymetoo, I am so sorry and will add your family to my prayers..It is so hard to see a parent so sick and not be able to fix it..
My dad suffered with progressive cancers for over 2 years..It was very hard to daily see him go down hill..He had been a polio victim as a child and was loosing circulation in his legs..
I had medical power of attorney and they were pressuring me to have his legs amputated..I prayed constantly for a "painless" heart attack..As the time ticked nearer to my decision..Thank God, my prayers were answered.
I pray the same for you..If there is no hope of recovery, may her last days be peaceful..And may you remember the good times and not these..It will take some time but the pain has lessened for me..My best..love and hugs..lymemomtooo

Been thinking about you all day. I remembered something the hospice nurse told me when my Mother was in her last days. We thought she had about a week, but she passed very unexpectedly during her first night with hospice.
The nurse said: "Most people know that it can helpful to tell the person that it is OK for them to go, but be sure to tell them that they will be missed."
As you know, people want to know that they are loved, they will be missed and that they will be remembered. I didn't have a chance to tell my mother, but she knew how much she meant to me.

I'm with cbb.....my father-in-law and my Dad both hung on for a long time. I told them each to let go, there was no need for them to suffer any longer. They both pasted with-in hours after.
My prayers are with you Tu Tu....God bless

Oh no, I'm so terribly sorry. I wish there was a miracle, but prayers can be miracles sometimes.
What a hardship for you to see your Mother like this and wonder if she will get well.
We can only pray, then pray some more.
God bless.

My thoughts are with you. Making decisions for a parent is so very difficult, but isn't it wonderful that we can make their passing as comfortable as can be.
She is a lucky mom, to have a daughter as caring as you are. Peggy
