Hi,

I am checking on how you are doing.
How is it going?

The 1st thread got so long. I thought could simplify with new start.

You certainly are well-loved here.

Whew. Long afternoon and evening. Waited 2 hours for her to arrive at the nursing home from the hospital [an hour away]. Long story. Got there at 2:30 and left at 6:15.

Already dumped one hospice, found another. I feel much more comfortable with the new one. Long story!! [Wink]

Mom seems to be doing "fine." Amazing. She is only being given morphine. Seems to be in pretty good spirits and it's so hard to believe she won't be around much longer.

I've talked to her about the end and even about her funeral! That was extremely hard to do, but I forced myself to do it.

Have a special church friend lined up to sing "On Eagles' Wings" and "The Lord's Prayer." He will do great, I know!

Is this more information than you wanted??? [Big Grin]

Ironically [thank you, God]...a former pastor of ours from Texas called today because he and his family are in town. My husband and I will have dinner with them tomorrow evening at the college. We haven't seem them in at least 15 yrs.

gotta check on the rest of Lymenet.......my buddies.

Thanks, Char! [Smile]

No, that is definitely not more than I wanted to hear.

So great that your friends "just happen" to be visiting. God is amazing the things he does to encourage us and help us through. So many times he does things that we would never think of.

Take Care.

Tutu, glad to read your update.

Glad you got your Mom moved twice...to the type of service YOU wanted for our dear Mom.

Glad you also discussed funeral details; that's a relief for her too.

I don't know if anyone else mentioned this before, but take the time to let her know it's OK to die and that you are going to miss her terribly. Many times they hang on for OUR sake and then they get the reassurance they need.

Soft hugs headed your way. Glad your pastor friend could stop too.

Thanks, Betty and Char. Mom was noticeably worse today. My brother and my nephew are driving up from Texas Friday. Hope they make it in time.

I'm glad I did alot of talking yesterday. She was able to respond much more then...today not much.

Our visit with our pastor and his wife was really great. I'm so glad they came.

You are a good daughter and I'm praying for your family.

I actually have some very sweet memories of reading and singing to my mom and lying in her bed with her just so she knew I was there.

Hang in there.

Lymetoo,

You are so blessed to have a Mother that you LOVE and she LOVES you. I am so sorry you both are going through this.

I say if my children will just put "Beloved Mother" on my tombstone--then I did what I wanted to do.

God bless both of you.

Linda

Just checking in. Mom is very comfortable and peaceful. Today I simply sat with her and held her hand while she slept.

My husband took me out there due to bad weather my car couldn't handle. Mom's eyes lit up when he talked to her. We asked her if she was tired and she said "very." So I told her just to rest and that I'd be right there.

My brother and my nephew [one of Mom's grandson's] will be here by tomorrow evening.

We're coping. Thanks to all for your messages. [kiss]

I just went to see my dad yesterday. he was hooked to so many hoses and pumps they couldnt keep them from getting all twisted up into quite a mess. Every time a nurse came in I think they rearranged all the bags hanging on the 'pole' he didnt care if there was anybody their.

Gayle, I know how hard it is for you to go thru all the pain and sufferings of parents. Stay the course, your doing better than I am!! Course mine is expected to come home again. We will see. Stay strong. Hope your weather improves, and it is not icy or snowing. [hi]

Thanks, don. The weather is OK right now. Just traces of snow and ice on the ground.

My brother and nephew drove up from Houston and we spent nearly two hours talking to my mom. She was pretty alert and knew everything going on. [well, the "alert" is all relative]

YOu could tell she thoroughly enjoyed the special time with them.

We will go back twice today, as my family needs to leave Sunday morning.

Thanks for everyone's beautiful sentiments and comments. I treasure them all.

God sent my mom a little angel this afternoon.

A little background:
Mom has not been able to converse with any of the residents there, not even her roommate. Her roommate is "sometimes clear of mind, most times not."

She has taken to being very concerned about Mom. Once by saying we should take one of Mom's blankets off the bed "So she can sleep better." [She thought it looked "scratchy."]

And today she came over in her wheelchair and gave me a little snowman dressed in soft blue, holding a little baby doll in his arms. [He has velcro on his hands, so he's holding the doll.]She wanted me to put it next to my mom in her bed.

I was so touched by this and when I told my husband about it, he almost cried. It was the sweetest thing I've ever seen. God has angels everywhere.

It's so amazing because this woman does not "know" Mom is dying. Only her heart told her.

I have tears in my eyes reading all your messages, Tu.

You have chosen two of my all time favorite hymns.

God speaks to us in small ways which can have such a large impact on us. Your Mom is definitely in His care and must be content to have you all near her.

Love and hugs,
nan

What a sweet story about the snowman. Im hoping things go well for you and your family. Watching a loved one be so incredibly sick is gut wrenching. I watched my mom die and it totally broke my heart. May God bless you and your family during this time. Continue with the updates. Im too sick to always respond right now, but I do read the posts.

I told several nurses about this today and they all dropped their mouths open. They said "Marie" never gives anybody anything....she usually TAKES things away!! [Big Grin]

One aide told me that Marie spent several hours watching over my mom last night. This is the first time she's ever done that either. So amazing. I'll never forget it.

Hey, gang. Me again. I'm too tired to go into the whole story, but my mom is not doing very well. She's got a temp of 101 and is in more pain.

I think they will be more attentive tonight [better nurse on board] as regards the pain. I called the hospice nurse and she came out and while waiting for her, our pastor just walked in "out of the blue." Thank you, Lord.

I was going to wait on calling him until I found out what the nurse had to say. She doesn't think death is imminent, but only God knows about that.

As for me.....not good. My husband came over for support also. We are hanging in there.

Thanks in advance for your kind thoughts and especially the prayers.

My mom is suffering, in my humble opinion. If she's not, I am. Please pray for her swift passing.

Thanks so much.
