Has anyone else's school or STATE banned fragrances from HS? Good deal...
I bolded the one part only...Betty

In our newspaper tonight...
BOURNE, MASS., AP

"School Discussed Fragrance Ban

A Cape Cod high school may soon ban all colognes, perfumes, scented deodorants, and body sprays.

The Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School committee met Monday night to discuss the fragrance ban for staff and students proposed by Supt. Barry Motta.

The proposed policy will be sent to a subcommittee for review, and will likely become part of the student handbook, Motta said.

Strong fragrances can irritate people with asthma, trigger headaches, and cause respiratory and neurological symptoms.

Motta said he not aware of another school in Mass. with a fragrance-free policy.

Most staff members, students and their parents have reacted favorably to the proposal, school nurse Lisa Schmitt said."

I agree, Betty.

I'd like to institute this ban at our shop...there are times when I have to either LEAVE or open the window in the office due to someone's perfume/cologne/bugspray.

A body scent can be nice...if done in moderation. Some folks, however, use it as a shower substitute and simply bathe in the stuff! No ones perfume should linger an HOUR after they've left the building!!!

It's literally suffacating and painful when you have asthma - school children should not have to deal with it.

I recently acquired asthma [last yr] and fragrances REALLY bother me. There are an awful lot of kids out there with asthma ... and teachers too!

I support this, for what it's worth.
