is so bad that i cannot bend my big toe. I have swollen joints elsewhere, (haha whole body). anyone have a good solution? I have not posted in a while but i have been reading posts most everyday.
I was diagnosed with lyme in 1999. and been dealing with it ever since. some of you may remember me. there are a lot of new people here.
Thank you, Helen

Gee Helen...are you 65?
Mainstream medicine will say you're just old and have arthritis and prescribe anti-inflams and steroids...and then ask how you are mentally!
Anyway...I use advil sparingly...it's an anti-inflam but takes the edge off most times...I take one and then a half hour later another to stretch out the efficacy...learned this in pain management classes...
Ice, and elevation will also work...
Sorry...other than antibiotics(which all of the ducks I've been to say makes no sense) is the only thing that gives me lasting relief...but even that wanes the farther away I get from last regimen.....
Hang in there Helen..........zman(56 april 28)

Helen, I found that ice, takes it down a bit and makes the throbbing go away faster.
Advil helps somewhat as well, sometimes.
I used to have some ketoprofen(sp?) cream that helped quite a bit. I haven't had any in many years but at the time I got it from a compounding pharmacy.
I don't know if it's still available. Sure would like some it worked on lots of stuff...joint pains, trigger points...

Hello Helen, You and I must be in the same decade having been born in the 40's. Without going into any long details, I will say that I too am swollen almost all the time at least to some degree in part of this 66 year old body.
Aside from the use of prescribed dieuretics now and then, I use MAGNETS too. THe ones in my shoes do help the swelling and the foot pain itself somewhat. Also have used other magnets for headaches as I mentioned in another thread tonite.
I used to play golf 3 or 4 times a day and I walked the courses 95% of the time. I wore the magnets in my golf shoes more for fatigue than pain..and they helped alot.
Anyway, it's a thought and I send a bunch of good ones your way. Bartonella Blues. (1940)

OOOOPS, I re-read this thread and see that you are 40,certainly not in the 60's decade like myself.
Noticed in my first note, i also said I used to play golf 3 to 4 times A DAY!! Of course , I meant A WEEK! Hardly ever get out there at all now,but I do look at old loveable clubs alot.
Bye for now. Try some magnets in your shoes.

Hi Helen! I think I remember you! Are you taking antibiotics? That's the best treatment for that arthritis.
