Over the past few years of being sick, I have had the good fortune to cross paths with some really wonderful doctors, most notably my LLMD and my PCP.

Is it ok to give doctors a gift? I was thinking something small (under $10) and on the light, funny side (like a desk game or something silly like that). Even though they are both professional relationships, I see them once a month and we have gotten to know eachother over the past 3 years.

Any thoughts? I don't want to create awkwardness, I just want to thank them for going so far above what is expected in a doctor.

I have brought things like banana bread and/or cookies to the doctors' offices. Sometimes for holidays and sometimes just to show my appreciation.

Yes, I give holiday gift baskets to the doctors and their staff who have gone above and beyond in terms of helping me, who are kind etc.

They seem to be very touched by this small gesture. I get the sense that many of the LLMDs and similarly compassionate doctors get so many hassles to deal with, it can mean a lot to them when they know are genuinely appreciated by us.

if you feel its deserved, then absolutely!

nothing inappropriate about the gesture.

long before lyme, i gave my doc an entertainment book.

Thanks for the replies. My PCP never knows what to do next for me so I was going to give her a magic 8 ball [Smile] I have one on my desk at work and its always good for comic relief and a conversation starter...

I like the 8 ball idea! I actually brought my LLMD a fish...of course it had to die too! Ahhh LOL There is nothing wrong with showing your appreciation. [Smile] I'm sure they will be most grateful for your love and support.
