Good luck to all involved and that the horse is made comfortable regardless of what happens.
Accidents happen in equine sports, but it is always hard to have something happen to your partner/friend and business partner.

Doug, hi there. I hear you are going thru some rough times like we lymies are.
Blackbirdsings mentioned what happened here which helps me since I don't follow horse racing.
I too hope your horse can be made as comfortable as possible. You've shown 24/7 to your special horse, and it knows it.
In a different way, it reminds me of Christopher Reeves fall from his horse. His horse didn't cause his fall causing him to be a quadroplegic. He would NOT have his horse killed due to this. I'm sure Chris is talking to you now to comfort you on what happened.

Man, that was tough to watch. I love horses and was so sad to see this. I hope Barbaro makes it through this.

I also saw the race...well, I didn't actually watch the race once Barbero was pulled up. After that happened, I could have cared less who won.
But I do care about the horse and the people around him.
At the point I'm writing, he's been through surgery and has already eaten. I know it's still a toss-up, but around here, we're used to long-shots.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

Yes, there is always H O P E and sometimes M I R A C L E S even with our chronic lyme disease, etc.
Don't give up your faith; keep praying. My best to everyone involved with the horse...the jockey, owners, caretakers of horse, etc.

Barbaro is being covered by the NBC affiliate in Philadelphia: very heavy press coverage. He is holding his own. The television station has also posted on their website a way for people to donate to the animals fund; just not only Barbero but all sick animals that need help that uses the veterinary hospital services. Keep saying prayers for the little horse and for all of us. Perhapss, better days ahead for all.

My grandparents just told me the story. I really don't follow the news.
I'm so sorry such a terrible accident occured. It must be so hard to watch. The way the horse performed he apparently has the courage needed to get through this traumatic time.
Sending healing thoughts to the horse. Hoping all those that were affected by this accident find a way to cope with the situation.
