Hopefully this will be the start of our walking buddy post. I too get exhausted when I do any exercise so I have to force myself. My goal today is to walk to the second stop sign and back which would be 1 mile. I will post when I complete it.

I slipped this weekend and had dark chocolate. Withing 5 hours my mouth was swollen and raw from the yeast. I just can't have ANY sugar. Been aware of my yeast problem since December....long time on no sugar!!!!

I'm in on this one- thought about how to get it going,too-so let's just start and take it from here. [Smile]

I have not sinned with my eating today-and knowing that this is a place for TRUE confessions will probably help me to get past cravings-until in a week or so I will no longer be sucked into the sugar bowl.

As for walking today- how about babysitting a toddler for the afternoon-does that count? Of course I am going to try real hard to get the kid to take a nap- a long nap. [sleepy]
But i do plan to take a walk through their neighgrhood first.
Will report back.!

I'm exciting, I mean excited-this just might help me get on the right track. [woohoo]

Your Buddy in Balto,
Carol

Wow, a mile?

Aren't you having a heat wave also? I thought half the world was dealing with this triple digit stuff.

Let's see. I'll try to make it to the mail box and back today.

Hey, don't laugh. It's uphill all the way back. About 200 feet each way. It's a start, at least, right?

Carol, I think chasing after a toddler counts big time.

I really don't feel like my walk today but I am going to go to the first stop sign right now just because we have this thread. Guess I was too ambitious on the mile thing!

I haven't cheated today on food but I am still paying for my slip yesterday with my yeasty mouth.

Here I go..out the door to the stop sign!

Okay I blew it big time-all because I wasn't prepared or thinking- and this is one of my problems- I let myself get too hungry!

6pm - just walked in the door from babysitting-and I was ravenous-first thing i saw to eat I wolfed right down- banana bread sitting in the middle of the table- not just one slice- three slices-with butter. [tsk] And then I threw down a handful of peanuts.
I was soooooo hungry. Not good for self control.

If I had packed a lunch, or even studied my friends refrigerator for something healthy to eat earlier- I could have had anything. But no- I didn't eat all afternoon-just fed the kid-came home and stuffed whatever was closest into my mouth.

See I have learned something-and this thread makes me look at myself- if I am going to be gone through lunch, or into the dinner hour I must take healthy snacks. Also I have this rather immature attitude that if I have done something difficult-

and although I enjoyed this afternoon-it was difficult-then I deserve a reward-when I really wind up hurting myself.

Eating that banana bread did me no good-except to give me some time to figure out what to have for dinner now. I'm still hungry !

So even though I fell flat on my face today- this thread gives me hope-because I want to be successful-AND I can be successful.

Thanks,
Carol

PS MA-wondering if you stopped at the STOP sign-or if you made it back okay?????

I sopped at the stio sign,,,then turned bac and maade it back, Post Office was deliverging when I got back so I said hello to them and picked up my mail. Tomorrow I will try to go past the first stop sign towards the second.

I know how you feel about the vraving when you walk in. Do youlike raw carrotts, celery sticks, broccolli to snack on. I dipp my in coconut oil and it good, I stay away from the fresh fruit right now because of the yeast,

I also get HEMP protein powder from the vitamin shop and mix it with coconut oil for a snack. It's green and mucky but tastes good!!!!

This thread has really been helpful today. I would have walked if it weren;t here! THANKS

I'm afraid of coconut oil-my cholesterol is up a bit-to 209 [Roll Eyes] .It was down to 160. and hemp? sounds like seaweed! Anyway I am open minded and will need good stuff to eat once I get off the bad stuff. I do like coconut- but the flaked kind you buy in a bag-I think it is sweetened.

My motto for today- if at first you don't succeed-try try again. Looking forward to checking in with you tomorrow . Glad you made it home again.

You guys are reading my mind.

I MADE myself get on the treadmill a couple of weeks ago,( that is after I removed all the stuff hanging and sitting on it)

Started with 10 minutes and decided that I could do that everyday and add minutes on when I could. So far so good.

Sometimes I walk with hubby and dogs, usually no longer than 20 minutes.

The heat and humidity is awful here so we walk only when I can breathe.

I am going to the treadmill right now and will bounce for a few minutes on the rebounder too.

You all inspire me! I would love to have some buddies because I often can't keep an exercise program going. And I have gained sooo much weight.

Hi-this be Carol checking in.

Our treadmill is down in the basement where the fungus doth grow. I am thinking about tossing it in the dumpster we have planned for delivery on Friday.

I did not go walking officially today-but I did use the stairs when I went to have an MRI of my spine done-but that's only because there was an "out of order" sign on the elevator. [Frown]
Actually I didn't really walk up the stairs- I pulled myself up by the handrail-one step at a time.

By the time I got home I was in my "I need a reward mode" but instead of gorging I watched Last Comic Standing with my daughter, drank water and added a few chuckles to my life instead of calories.

It's been a long day-AND I am proud to say that I packed a lunch to eat while at the church for volunteer work so as not to get tooo hungry.

So all in all, today was a more conscientious day than yesterday. [Smile]

Bye-this be Carol checking out.

OK, MA's update. I didn't walk yesterday but I also didn't eat any chocolate or sweets so my mouth is getting better.

I am going to try to walk today...probably still just to the first stop sign.

I also have exercise equipment down in the garage with misc stuff hanging on it. You guys inspire me.....I think I will clear it off today!

I took a walk today! Dropped my kid off at a play practice and walked on level ground through a park on a spit of land that overlooked the bay.

Was all by myself in the woods. I'm a city girl. I should have been able to enjoy the tranquility, but I got freaked that the boogy man was going to jump out and get me-so headed back in short order.

Probably the only creeps around were the ticks-which reminds me the name of the closest street was Tickwood Road ! [Eek!]

Anyway- I been good today.

Hey all,

Its good to see what you all are up to.

I walked on the treadmill last night and tonight for 17 minutes and 20 minutes. Ate pretty good today, no junk.

I get real shaky afterwards but if I rest it gradually goes away. I do feel stronger overall since I've started.

Anyone else got the post exercise shakiness?

Way to go girls!

Since I have become such a lousy housekeeper I thought it would just be easier to throw everything out- so I ordered a dumpster for our driveway. Makes sense to me.

Anyway- instead of putting the treadmill in the dumpster, my daughter suggests we bring it up from the basement, not a healthy place to be anyway, and put it in the living room. So we'll see. At least that way, when we have our community yardsale next summer it will be closer to the sidewalk!

Just the thought of getting on the treadmill scares me. I did walk more than I had to the other day when I parked at the end of the parking lot to get to the pharmacist. It is hot and humid here, and I have such a low tolerance for heat, that's about all I was up for.

Eating has not been out of control-but not exactly sugar free either. Still have to work on that. I threw the banana bread out.I bought real bananas today.

Hope you are all doing well.
Carol
