my doctor is convinced that i have possitional vertigo. but it does not explain the numbness that happens when I fall asleep and wake up to my head and brain falling asleep. and having tingeling feeling when Im so dizzy. anyone have any input. I feel like Im going nuts. terrirdls1

Benign positional vertigo was one of my first symptoms of lyme. With the help of the audiologist teaching me the exercises I got it cured.
It can be a real symptom of Lyme and other diseases or be caused by a blow from the head, but, it can be easily fixed.
Now and then I get it back and can do the repositioning exercises myself.
Basically what happens is you have crystals in the semicircular canals in the ear. If they become dislodged and move to another part of the semicircular canal they cause the vertigo. So you are the audiologist positions the head in such a way to move the crystals back to the proper part of the semicircular canal. I would have an audiologist do it for you the first time and then if you get it again you can do it yourself.
A classic symptom is rolling over in bed and getting vertigo or tilting you head back and getting vertigo. Hiker
