A local gal (really sick) was making good progress after two weeks of IV Rocephin at our local hospital, ordered by one of our LLMD's from out of state.

Suddenly, she was informed that the doctor who okays these orders had refused any further treatment because he did not believe in this protocol.

Anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you get around it?

Really tired of hearing these type things on Cape Cod.

yes I had exactly the same experience. The hospital where I was having my peripheral lines put in refused to do it anymore because the doctor who ran the department did not agree with the therapy. My Lyme doctor was also out of state but did not have privileges at the hospital so I was really stuck. I then found out that as long as a doctor from the hospital would co-sign the prescription from the Lyme doctor, the department that did infusions and placed lines had to do it so I asked my primary care doctor if she would do it and initially she agreed. After several months however she decided that the treatment was too unorthodox and the I was back to square one. I have since found a nurse to put in my lines and mix my own medication at home under the Lyme doctor's orders. Hope this helps!
