Here are the names of the current (as of 10/20/06)Health subcommittee: Health subcommittee
Sorry, I don't have the time right now to compare w/ who is signed on, etc. However, as many have pointed out ... this is a lame duck congress now, so we really need constituents to turn the heat on their reps!!!
Joe Barton is a huge barrier! He not only needs heat ... he needs an outright fire storm!!!
You can find contact info, including LOCAL district addys and numbers here:
I put the above post together so it would be easy for everyone to get contact info within the board, without having to do an outside search.
I visited every Reps home webpage to get this info.
At this point, it may just be a shot in the dark. But as we all collectively hold our breath waitng to hear from the LDA and news of the ILADS conference ... this is something we CAN do NOW.
Thanks!!!
Hayley

Barton of Texas is the chairman, and therefore the man with the power. If you watch the Imus in the Morning show on MSNBC, you would know that Imus has it in for Barton as he is also blocking legislation for funding Autism (he wants to reduce funding from the 900 million level, which everybody in Congress was in favor of, down to 300 million). He has called Barton every name in the book for saying one thing and doing another. What Barton's motives are, I have no idea; if he is trying to keep government expenses down, he should take a look at the money that goes down the hole for useless projects that I am sure he has no problem in voting for.
Autism is Imus's (and his wife's) pet concern. I have been thinking about trying to write to him to try and get him interested in Lyme, as we have a situation similar in many ways to what the medical profession is putting the Autism victims through, but I don't know if he would have any interest in what's going on here.

Mark, GO FOR IT; email him; call him, whatever! He appears a lot on LARRY KING LIVE also.
Get all the necessary info and put into the email to him. If you don't hear back in 2 weeks, resend it on a regular basis until someone answers.
Good luck, and please post what you send him ok! Thanks!! Speak up anytime; ideas are always welcome here ... especially activism ones! Bettyg
