I don't want to derail anything, interfere in any way or wreck things already in motion
so I have deleted my posts.

Nice letter, Mary! Do you really think it was an insect? or a tick?? Just wondering.

I think if he got alot of letters, he MIGHT do something. He would even gain some respect from me!

that's a really awesome letter and i think writing to michael moore is a wonderful idea. i'll write him a letter too. i deeply respect what he does and i think if we could tie the lyme disaster to larger problems within the healthcare system, etc, then we might interest him even further. he tends to take on really big, macro issues - racism, war, etc. so i think making him realize that what we all go through with lyme is a terrible symptom of an even larger problem, is a really important thing to do, too.

anyway, thanks for sending this and for sharing it here.

Has John Stossel ever done anything re Lyme??...he likes to go against the grain too, and i think he gets a lot more respect than Michael Moore.

Hi Mary,

I totally agree with you -- that this entire Lyme story, the deadly indifference and mistakes of much of the medical community, the suffering of those of us with lyme, and the corruption of the insurance industry is a huge story waiting to be told by the right author and film-director.

great letter. I will try to write him too when I can!

There's more where those came from. Thought you'd like to see them.

Do I have to google Michael Moore or will you just go ahead and tell me who he is and what he does?

I know who Mary Moore is or was ! [Big Grin]

Thanks Mary- Now that you mention it I think I have heard of him-although I have not seen any of his work.

Great idea!

I'm working on my own letter to him and was wondering about the cost of treating lyme, to tie it into the documentary he's currently working on.

Any info. about that?

Kate...Do a search here on the cost. Tincup has done surveys on that.

wow.

for once i have to agree wholeheartedly with the good Dad above [Razz]

seriously, the fight on the frontlines is so critical and so tenuous now (coming from one who loves MM's work, btw)

i cringe at the possibility that this idea (albeit a good one in theory) - and what moore might do with it - could derail or conflict with all the groundwork that has been laid, especially because moore is high profile.

unless this was done in partnership with the leading Lyme groups, because if the story is misrepresented in any way, the result could be very bad.
Lyme is a pretty complex story as you know, and Open Eye picture's film is due out in '07.
this company has worked extensively within the Lyme community with the blessings of the Lyme advocacy organizations.

-- just saw your edit up top --
i didn't mean to imply you could derail anything Mary J,
i meant moore could unwittingly do so in a film like this.

looking at Sicko synposis, tho -
i bet it will shake up the face of healthcare in general.

people struggling with cancer and many other very serious illnesses have been seriously abused by pharmaceuticals, the government, insurers and the FDA.

i hope he does stuff on the FDA driving alternative cures and practitioners out of business as well.

IMO, his film may effect the Lyme issue even if he does not focus on it.

Hi Mo,

I felt it was best to delete the letter anyway
as it was inappropriate to post it here.

I'm no longer writing to Canada's top docs or
the feds or anyone like that and have turned my
focus to the dark horses like Moore and others
in the hopes of a lucky shot.

Wish you all the best and Happy Thanksgiving.

Mo,

I disagree with you, we've agreed on other things in the past, I think.

Good to hear from you.

Have a great Thanksgiving.
