Hello my fellow Lymies!

I just wanted to introduce myself (I've been registered for a while but never got active). I'm a 27 yr female who grew up in CT and is estimated to have had the dreaded Lyme for 11 or 12 years (diagnosed after 5 or 6). I just moved to Toronto recently, and believe myself to be in remission after many many years of treatment. I am worried about relapse, especially now that my doc is 8 hours away but everything seems fine so far. Oh, and it is like nails on a chalkboard to me when people call it "lymes," anyone else feel that way?

This is a great place and I am looking forward to being part of it!

Welcome. I am so glad you are in remission.

I am sure once I am in remission I will worry about relapse too. This disease can be very nasty... I believe fearing its return is natural.

Just be vigilant, listen to your body, and try to take care of yourself.

If it does come back at least you will know what you are dealing with and where to go for help.

I think the thing that gets many of us into trouble is that it takes us so long to get a diagnosis and then usually even longer to find a dr who knows how to treat lyme and TBD.

It especially irritates me when people in the medical community are add the "s". I have found if a dr calls it "lymes" I should run.

Thanks! You know the funny thing, or maybe not so funny, is that I have had some procedures done at Northern Westchester (grrrr) and ALL the nurses and docs I met call use the "s"

Welcome Jedibelle! It's nice to see somebody new come with a story of being better! You've found a fantastic resource with amazingly supportive people.

That "lymes" with the "s" thing drives me up the wall, too.

Haven't had a doctor say it yet, but if they did I'm pretty sure I would laugh in his/her face.

i'm a newbie too. this is such a great site, i can't quit checking the different boards. started treatment in 4-06. not even close to remission but it sure helps that other people are. [Big Grin]
