My sweet 10 year old lymie boy needs to go for another cat scan to R/O yet another cholesteatoma.
This would be his third cholesteatoma.
He had an operation at six and at eight. I am so scared that my poor guy will have no hearing left in this ear after another surgery.
He's only 10 and facing his fourth hospital admittance and third surgery. I am so depressed.
Prayers for my little nut please.

Acorn,
I am so sorry to hear that you and your son are going through this. I did not realize he's had to endure so many surgeries before this.
Of course both of you will be in my prayers.
You always bring so many smiles and humor to our silly posts, you have raised our spirits so many times. It is now time for us to lift yours.

Thanks Gang,
True - what a cute mommy squirrel with her litle nut. That's a keeper.
Poor kid goes for cat scan tomorrow so last night we told him. You should have seen his face. Not a face a parent wants to see. He knows what this means and he is scared. He's done it twice.
So a little while ago the school called. He was throwing up and would I pick him up. Can't help but wonder if he ain't all eaten up inside. Waking up in recovery is no fun and he has done this twice already.
Thanks Trouble, Cave, Azure, Jill, True, and Tutu as your well wishes and prayers do help.

acorn, so sorry to read about your son's health problem.
can you explain what he has specifically? big name means nothing to this neuro lymie.
yes, i really sympathize with your son; many of these procedures are downright scarry for an ADULT LET MORE A YOUNG CHILD!
when you talk to him, tell him you want him to imagine what brings him so much happiness ... his favorite moment in life. now for him to take this special moment and be CONCENTRATING ON THAT when they do the mri.
will he be awake? i had to be put asleep.
thoughts and prayers headed to your son, you, and extended family.
yes, your squirrly friends ADD SO MUCH HUMOR to our lyme lives! keep it up! Posted by MagicAcorn (Member # 8786) on :
Thanks to Cassie, Dana, Doc, Sizzled, and Betty.
Betty a cholesteatoma is a benign tumor that grows inside the ear. My son's cholesteatoma has a fondness for his temporal bone. It must be operated on as it is very aggressive especially in children. This would be his third surgery on this ear.
If left alone it would continue to cause trouble even though it is benign. He would go deaf, and it could grow into the face and skull if left to its own accord.
It is nice to get the well wishes. My little guy has been a real momma's boy today. Can't say that I blame him. Thanks everyone for the support.

Hi Magic.
I'm so sorry. I hate to see kids go through something like this. I'm betting he must be a very brave little trooper.
I will keep you and him in my thoughts and hope for a speedy recovery.

Hi Magic, I'm sorry your son has to go through this. It must be heartbreaking as a parent.
Your son does have a mother with a wonderful spirtit, that must count for something during this this time.

Hi Magic,
It is difficult for us grownups to face surgeries, but when it is your child........
Keep the faith. I will be praying for both of you.
Hope this is the last surgery you both will have to endure.

acorn, thank you so much for explaining your son's conditions to me/everyone else on here..
when is this taking place so we can have prayer chains going for him/you/family that day?
best wishes as someone else stated that this is his LAST SURGERY of this nature! thoughts and prayers headed your way/later! Posted by MagicAcorn (Member # 8786) on :
WOW!
Thanks to Micul, Melanie, Trails, Michelle, Vermont, Geneal and Betty.
Keeping the little guy home today because it is very snowy outside, and well he wants to stay home. Later tonight @ 6:00 he is going for his cat scan. I'm so tired of my little guy having such big worries.
To all those that said he was a brave little trooper, well he is. He has been dealing with lyme all his life and knows no other way.
He is my little hero.

Dear Magic Acorn,
Your son sounds super brave and you do, too. I hope he has lots of fun in the snow so he can think about that when he is having his CAT scan!!! I hope you have someone supporting you in person and I hope his procedure goes without a hitch!! And that he never has to have one again!!! Sincerely, Sarah

Dear MagicAcorn,
I didn't realize your little guy had lyme. Poor thing to battle lyme and having to go through 3 operations this past year. That is a lot for a child. Keep him close and give him lots of Magic love and he will pull through. Kids are so resilient, they often amaze us!!

Acorn,
Hope the cat scan went smoothly and that there is good news to follow. When will you find out the results?
So sorry that your child has suffered so much.

Sorry to hear about this -- this is a lot for a child to go thru, let alone any of us.
One Q, altho I would assume the answer would be negative because of his age: he hasn't been using a cell phone at all on this side of his head?
Posted by MagicAcorn (Member # 8786) on :
Robin,
No, he has never ever used a cell phone. This has been on going for four years. It started at the end of his fifth year and his first surgery was when he was six.
I appreciate everyone's comforting posts and good wishes for me and my little nut.
Acorn

Acorn,
Sending you my prayers and thoughts to you and your son.

MagicAcorn,
It is one thing for us to be sick but to have a sick child is terrible. He sounds strong in spirit and with your help he will get thru it.
Children are sometimes stronger then we think. It hurts to see them sick. I will be praying for both of you. Betty had a good idea on thinking about a favorite thing to do or place to be. This does help. I have had nine surguries and sometimes the ones I worry about the most go the best.
