Since being ill with Lyme, I have noticed how old I look.

I have bags under and over my eyes, increased wrinkles on my face (no they are not laugh lines), my eyelids have all but disappeared.

I know I am no spring chicken (41 yrs old), but people have always told me how young I look.

Now, I just look old and tired. I feel that way too.

I'm seriously thinking of a face lift in a couple of years.

I have two young children. I don't want to be sitting at a ball game and have another child ask my child if I am their grandmother.

Has Lyme aged you?

Heck, while I am at it, I might get other body parts lifted as well.

Oh yes! I think a doctor could have a lot of fun working on my body. They could plan there next trip to Bermuda on all it will cost me too. [lol]

geneal, your comments made me think of my late sister who died at 41 of advanced breast cancer in liver.

mom, marilyn, and i went to ft. dodge, iowa where marilyn was going to enroll in beauty school to become a hairdresser.

we met another young girl and she said to marilyn, who is 9 YEARS YOUNGER THAN ME; is this your MOTHER & GRANDMOTHER, our mom!

that's even before my hair turned completely white! [lol]

geneal, by the time you are older, you will have gone into REMISSION, and your body will go back to looking the way it was prior to lyme!

just enjoy yourself the way you are! you can see, hear, smell, and use all your other senses .... that is all that counts in this cruel world of lyme! [group hug]

Most days I think I should be stood on my head like the 'new' catsup bottles. That would make gravity make things come back into place.

Naw, probably just make me 'sag' both ways.

Wait till ya get as old as me,,,then you cant tell what belongs where and further more too old to care!!!mostly ib--just don--

SBetty --My most deep sympathy about your sister. I am so sorry.

Betty and Don---thanks so much for the words of encouragement. I would need a total body lift to look like I did before children.....

I will be thrilled to just be me with Lyme in remission.

It reminds me of that saying that if you have your health, you have everything.

I was thinking of the full body stuff too, but I guess there are some parts that don't need THAT much attention....like between my toes!! [Big Grin]

About getting old really fast...here's something to think about. Before I got the Lyme diagnosis, I was diagnosed with "adrenal fatige" or possibly a case of Addison's. My adrenal were not putting out much of any of the hormones that keep you going, keep you young, or even keep you thinking. Seems like that happens to lotsa Lymeies. I went on natural hormone replacement therapy, and got enough energy and clarity back to figure out what was really going on. Also got me back to where I could remember to cook my kids dinner. Might help someone else. But you have to find the right doc who knows this stuff. It can be as tricky as finding a LLD.

Geneal, you are definitely not alone.

I have pictures from right before it hit me really hard, esp. the neuro part. I look at pics not too long after and I can't even tell it is the same person!

I was talking to my bf about it this morning.

Not just my face, but my whole body, hair inlcuded. It makes me so sad sometimes. I know it is only "looks", but if I feel bad and look bad it is so much worse.

I wish I could see the same person I used to see when I look in the mirror. The one I still see in my mind when I think of myself.

I'm right there with y'all - thinkin' I'm looking pretty ragged these days.

A good lift or two would help, but then so would a cootie-free body!

Lyme has been one big lesson in gratitude - on the days when I'm not so whiny, and I can actually make it through without crashing hard, I just feel so darn grateful for the little things... like being able to walk up stairs...

So on those really great days, I have to admit, I, ummmm, avoid the mirror & the looking at old pics of myself (cuz I look so different now).

Actually I avoid those on the bad days, too.

My plan is for some serious spa time when this is all over!

Oh Geneal,

I just turned 44 and I can definitely say that lyme has aged me. I can definitely see it when I look at pictures.

Everyday I look in the mirror and think, where did my face go? Not to mention my body!

Maybe when I can rid my body of this nasty lyme that can be my reward. A face lift, I am pretty much a chicken though.

If I went the ketchup bottle route I might suffocate from the excess flab dropping over my head! [Big Grin]

Had to wear a fancy backless gown to my husband's business party last year. The ladies at the store gave me this weird tape stuff to lift the ta-ta's and hold them in place like the movie stars do. Guess what happens when you sweat?! [Roll Eyes]

I was walking around feeling momentarily glamorous and not knowing that my right side was several/many inches lower than my left! The tape had given out! [Big Grin]

...fashion don't...

Yes, I've aged all over, but I'm more fun when I'm far less vain...

I am sorry, but I found your tape story so funny. I guess it is because that sounds like something that would happen to me.

I guess I am a little vain...I just don't want my kids to be teased as their Mom is so "old".

I don't care that gravity has really taken hold of me from the neck down.

Spandex is wonderful fot that. I just hate the looseness of the skin on my face and the network of lines that cross it.

I am chicken too. Maybe by the time I can afford the surgery they will have some new improved scapel-less procedure that doesn't involve toxins.

Thanks for sharing your tape story. It made my day.

Glad the tape story made you smile. After my initial horror, I couldn't stop laughing at what I saw in the mirror. Then...I had to lower the other boom by ripping the tape off so that I'd look even! I walked into the party perky and left a drooping dowager in a snazzy dress! [Big Grin]

I'm afraid of the thought of plastic surgery, but what just floors me is the idea of injecting botulism into one's forehead to look youthful for a few months until the next injection is needed!

I once heard someone say that the wrinkles on her face were just the roadmap of where she'd been in life. Me too!

wiseforit, i'm still laughing too, and then imagining it was ME this happened too.

i was very large busted DD's and played softball, basketball, volleyball, etc. i really ran those bases; my husband now used to come to watch me BOUNCE around the bases! yep, nickname back then was betty boobs!

20 yrs. ago had breast reduction surgery; they removed 5.5 lbs! your choice ... flour or suger; that much weight! i used to just rest them on my desk and dining room table! [lol]
