has anyone ever been treated at a fibromyalgia & fatigue clinic for lyme?

I just wanted to know if it was a success?

It was one of the choices this site gave me as llmd's.

is anyone being treated with like alternative meds rather than antibiotics?

if so, do they seem to be better? i'm not familiar with them and kinda scared of them?

I HAVE heard they are expensive. The good news is that they use Igenex for testing!

Jayne,

There are lots of people on this site who have tried alternative treatments. Some do well, some don't.

I presonally believe you need strong antibiotics to kill Lyme. If you hit a plateau or the antibiotics don't work after a number of months, then perhaps it is necessary to consider alternatives. But I'm not a doctor, just a patient.

I also believe you need to take care of your body and use supplements with abx. Are bodies are too injured from this illness to get better without the help.

To me, the best LLMD's combine both. Since my LLMD is admittedly still learning about the supplement/alternative side, I found a doctor who focuses on that and work with 2 doctors.

Jayne, I believe most FFC centers do treat with antibiotics if the lyme test comes back positive. I would call them or ask when you get there if you HAVE TO have all the usual tests run.

In other words, I've heard that they run tons of tests to rule out other things. If you can afford that, great. But if not, better to ask about it.

Your main goal should be to get a Lyme Western Blot through Igenex....and go from there.

Be sure to post your test results here when they come in. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

i understand there is a clinic in fort worth (or is it dallas), and yes, some of the docs do test for lyme, but i've never heard of them treating it.

i just don't know. i DO know one woman who goes and I'm pretty, no, i'm positive she has lyme, but they say fibro and she won't pursue...so i'm curious about them.

dr. s in fort worth used to be with them but broke off. don't know why...he's getting a lot of lymies.

I was just wondering this as well. There is one in Atlanta GA and I was thinking about seeing if I could go there. The website says they test for everything the first visit there. It says to expect to stay there with the doctor 1 to 1.5 hours.

I haven't spent that much time with all my doctors put together! They usually throw me out when I get there! Of course, I have spent 20x that long in waiting rooms!

Well, thanks!
