My husband was just diagnosed (this past week) positive on a Western Blot (5 bands). His dr (LLMD) prescribed Kepek for 30 days. He had previously tested positive in a CSF test and was given doxy for 21 days. We aren't sure how long he's been infected, he started out with toe joint pain that traveled up his leg but since he was on Zocor for 5 years the Zocor could be the cause. Since early May of the this year, the flu symptoms showed up. Because the flu symptoms were after the peripheral neuropathy, I am hoping maybe we are catching the bacteria in an earlier stage. Can anyone tell me if the number of bands indciates a timeline? Also, what's the sucess feedback on using Kepek? He's taking milk thistle, vitamins, chlorela etc... He's also having his liver tested weekly. If you catch the bacteria in the first months of infection do the antibiotics work pretty quickly?

We were told that Kepek is the latest antibiotic in treating lymes and that there has been some positive results? One draw back is that this particular anti has reports of severe liver damage but we were willing to try the most effective drug as long as we were doing weekly liver testing. I didn't see too many blogs on Kepek so now I'm wondering if this isn't the right choice.

Maybe you haven't found any "blogs" on it because it's spelled KETEK.

You can do a search on this site by clicking on the little word "search" in the upper portion of this page.

The number of bands has nothing to do with how long someone has had the disease nor how long it will take to recover from it.

Does your husband have a Lyme specialist?? That is VERY important!! IF he doesn't have one, you can ask for leads on drs over in Seeking a Doctor here on Lymenet.

Ketek is very effective, but I'm glad his liver panels will be closely monitored because it can be dangerous as well.

here is some more info.....Glad you found us!!!

now just correct to KETEX, and you could edit your body text into short paragraphs too since we neuro lymies can't comprehend/read long solid blocks of text like yours.

hit the enter key after every sentence until you are down to the bottom of your post.

go to left hand corner and mark box to receive all replies, and then click EDIT SEND! [Wink]
