We're in the process. My daughter can't handle working at all or attending classes.

It's not where we want to be, but these are the facts of life right now.

I am 21 years old and I am on state disability right now. I am about to apply for SSI.

I was in the same situation in NY, but denied any state assistance.

The problem for me was that I graduated college and didn't have four years of full time work under my belt, and I owned my own car and had a little savings.

I hope you have better luck than I did.

P.S- If denied contact an attorney, you may have a better chance of getting something.

Thank you for all your replies.

naysmommy, did you just go to your counties health department to get the state disability?

Helen

I got the disability papers from my primary care doc and she filled them out for me. Make an appt with her doc she sees the most and they will fill the papers out for her. You can also go down to the nearest Unemployment office and they have the disability papers there.
