Are you taking it with food?? That is a MUST!! It really is hard on the stomach. You may have to ask the dr for another med.
It's NOT too early to herx. You can begin herxing after taking ONE pill.

The first few weeks I had to eat with it...like eat 1/2 my meal, take pill, eat 1/2 my meal. I've gotten used to it and other than the occasional indigestion, after 2 1/2 mo, I am much better! I had just come off Levequin (sp?) for pnemonia, so my gut was already a mess from 10 days of that (at a high dose)
Also, the probiotics helped a LOT with the gastro issues it caused.
Word to the wise...stay out of the sun!! Trust me. Put zinc oxide especially on your knuckles and joints in the sun, cover up as much as possible, 5 minutes in the sun create blisters for some people...and no sunscreen will help if you are one of the few sun reactors!

Yes, you must take it with as much food as possible.
I also took doxy 200 mg/twice per day. I found if I took it in the middle of a big meal, I was fine. If I took it without food, I threw up.
Also, ginger (herb, tea, or capsule) helps with the doxy nausea.
Take care and feel better! I herxed right away from doxy, and it was a great treatment for me, though I took it only 3 weeks.

You also need to take it with a full glass of water & don't lay down for at least an hour afterwards.
It is also important to take a good probiotic at least 2-3 hours away from the Doxy.
Sorry you're feeling so sick. Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

I bet you have got doxycyclin hyclate, don't you? If you can, prefer doxycyclin monohydrate to doxycyclin hyclate. This is for your refill, unless your pharmacist is kind enough to help you with this before the end of your current box. Hope this helps!

And salads don't count!! You have to take it with starchy foods!!! the best for me was OATMEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I didn't take Doxy with a starchy food like oatmeal I would vomit every time!!!!!!!!!!!!! YUCK*)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take care- Remember to wear gloves driving because of the sun sensitivity!!! Otherwise you will get red hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter has to take hers 10 min before she eats, one of my sons takes his mid meal, one does his right after he eats.
No set formula, play around with it, you will find which works best for you.
