I tried to advocate for myself. I tried finding a doctor to treat me. Unfortunately, I couldn't get regular rides to the LLMDs office (hours away), so I was dropped. Now I've resorted to just living with it. I got pregnant last year, and had a baby in January. The placenta was tested and there was no apparant Lyme transferred to her. I'm nursing, and I haven't had any really bad flares. I partially attribute this to not having regular cycles yet.
So, I'm living with Lyme. I'm starting back up at college in 8 days. I'm nervous. What if I have a bad flare again? They kicked me out of the program before because I was sick. I'm afraid of it happening again.

Yes, right now I'm feeling okay. I did just have to get an immunization *grumble grumble*, and I've been very tired, achey, and feverish. That may be due to also having just started my period, too, or even the weather. But, it's not horrible right now. I'm functional.
I'm afraid of talking to my instructor regarding making accomidations because it was the Lyme that got me kicked out of the same program a few years ago. They said I wasn't able to physically do the work required in the Nursing Program.
I'm looking into the dorms, but I have to get a job to afford it.
I did try herbal treatments 2 years ago, but it didn't help at all. I tried:
Cats Claw
Echinacea
Ginseng
Kudzu
Licorice
Maitake
Scutellaria
Shiitake
Siberian Ginseng
Lentinana
Red Clover
St John's Wort
I ate lots of Vitamin A (1-3 servings of dark-green, yellow, or orange fruits or vegetables daily), had 15-20 minutes of exposure to morning or evening sun on the hands and face daily (without sunscreen), and ate lots of garlic. No improvement.

i'm bothered about your breast feeding your baby. you stated the placenta was negative, but it's a proven fact the babies can get lyme from your breast milk.
just throwing in a thought in case you hadn't thought about it.

my older daughter got Lyme from me breastfeeding- or was congenitally infected and I was infected before and didn't know it- but she became symptomatic when I got it acutely and I was breastfeeding her so I tend to believe the former-
my younger is still breastfeeding but I am on amoxicillin- lots of it-
MANY people live with LYme (and most don't know it). But if you were symptomatic enough to get diagnsod I would wonder if you are doing the right thing by not seeing an LLMD.

I believe that the reason my oldest has not been symptomatic for Lyme and my other two have is that I barely breastfed him and the others nursed for around year each.
One of them has Bipolar Disorder, which I believe is a manifestation of Lyme and the other has shown other symptoms throughout her life.
Please reconsider this.

Yes, I'm aware of the risk of transmission through nursing. There's also risks from not nursing. I debated it thouroughly before deciding to nurse.
See, at one point in time I was so focused on being treated and getting cured. I focused all my energy on it. All the doctors in my area refused to see me. I went through them all. The doctors that I went to see out of the area either don't accept my health insurance, are quacks, or I can't get to see them regularly and was dropped (as was the case with Dr. J J).
I just don't have enough energy to fight for treatment right now. Last time I was treated it made me even more sick. No doctor that I've spoken with will provide enough treatment to get this under control, except of course Dr. J J but as I said, I was dropped.
I'm pretty much blacklisted from finding a doctor in this area.
So, I have to learn to live with it, and accept it.

I think the risks of nursing with Lyme outweigh the benefits of breast milk.
I was infected while pregnant and had my placenta tested - it was negative.
I chose not to nurse for fear I'd give my baby Lyme (not knowing he already had it). I didn't trust doctors because they kept telling me I wasn't sick even though I couldn't even get out of bed.
My son tested positive for Lyme at age 10 months once I finally got us to a LLMD but has had minimal symptoms. I'm really glad I didn't make things worse by breastfeeding.
That's just my opinion.
