Hello, I got a personal phone call from Dr F in Louisiana and he asked me to spread the word among the Lyme community that he will begin taking pediatric cases for children over 3 years old.
Please help me pass this info for those desperate for someone that is LL and will treat children!
He is also training a PA that is working with him about Lyme.
Dr C in MO trained Dr F...he is also an ILADS member.
Thanks, Dawn Posted by lymednva (Member # 9098) on :
What wonderful news for people in that part of the country! My brother lives in LA, but so far seems to be fine and his daughters are both teens now and doing great.
He told me this week that he well remembered picking ticks off ourselves when we were growing up. I guess I was just the "lucky" one! Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
I thought he was already treating children?? Anyway, I'm so happy he's there. Now we need a good dr for TX!

He was seeing a few kids from some of his established patients and had been wondering if he really wanted to branch out into more children...
He asked me to spread the word that he is officially opening up his practice to pediatric Lyme as well as adults.
...as long as they are over 3.

I hope my sitting in his office and tearfully
requesting that he would treat my children helped.
I told him that I would not trust them to anyone else in this state,
And that I could not possibly afford Dr. J.
Actually, I think that my two children were very possibly the "first"
Ones Dr. F took on. Thank you Dr. F.
Hugs,
Geneal

That is great!
I'm finally getting my son tested on Thursday.
If he is positive, I will get him seen by Dr. F.
Except he is only 2, but he'll be 3 in January.
Dr. F seems really good with children. My son and my husband were there for my appointment and my son was being fussy. Dr. F was entertaining him by making donald duck noises.

I forgot about the Donald Duck noises.
My four and five year old and I were there for four hours!
He even offered to put cartoons on the TV to help entertain my children,
Even though his waiting room was full of adults.
Hugs,
Geneal

Had a phone conference with Dr. F two days ago.
He said he had some exciting news he wanted to share and asked if I would share it on Lymenet.
He then revealed his intent to treat pediatrics.
I informed him that I had already gleaned this info from Lymenet.
He was thrilled.
His nurse was looking for ways to make the office visits more pediatric friendly.
My suggestions included the numbing cream for the arm prior to having blood work done,
The use of a butterfly for blood work,
Suckers/stickers as rewards (I used these as tongue depressers when dealing with children).
Anybody else have any other suggestions?
His office is excited and really trying to gear up for the little ones.
I am to speak with his nurse on Monday.
If you have any suggestions, I could forward it to him.
Thanks.

Hello Everyone,
I am so glad to hear he is starting to take kids. Dom has been seeing him for over 3 years now, Dr. C called and made a personal request back then.
He has been treating Dom for Allergies/Lyme and has been treating Hannah for 2 years(another call from Dr. C requesting it). They had major issues with allergies but since being on the allergy drops EVERYTHING is getting better.
I am so glad that hear his wonderful bed side manner and in general great care will now be shared with the kids. In dealing with them for over 3 years we have never had any problems.
My kids love the Donald Duck voice!!!

Hi Starr!! Good to hear from you!! Posted by hshbmom (Member # 9478) on :
How much pediatric experience has he had?
How many cases of pediatric Lyme has he treated?
Has he apprenticed with Dr. J?
Inquiring minds want to know.
I've got 5 little lymies, but some are not so little.

I never got into excact number with him but I know he has treated my two kids with excelent care.
I do know that he has been working with Dr. C in MO for a few years now. Dr. C comes down here and Dr. F goes up there besides many phone calls to each other.
In the beginning of the kids treatment he didn't feel comfortable treating kids for lyme and asked that I still see Dr. C. That was over 3 years ago though.
He has recenly helped me when Dominic had a flair up of symptoms after an accident and was wonderful. He follows alot of what Dr. C does and I feel they work hand in hand with each other.
IF I would not have family in MO and love it up there so much I would more then likly just see Dr. F. for the kids and myself. BUT at the time I do have one that was only 2 getting treatment so we stayed with Dr. C. Sam is now 5 and will start seeing Dr. F for allergy treatment.
In my opinion this has been a big key to getting the kids better. My kids were allergic to everything!!!! Now we only see the peditrican for accidents since they are so active now, we are not in there every week with sinus/cold general stuff they get when their immune system was lowered.
Hope this helps
Starr
P.S. Tutu it is great to be back. I wish I had more time but with 3 active kids now (yeah!!!) we are on the go all the time.
I remember when i first started posting Dominic could barley walk now he is the star goalie for his soccer team amazing huh!!

Dr. F. expressed to me last week, that he is going to a conference/continuing ed specifically
Geared towards treating pediatrics for Lyme.
I know he treats at least 10 children from my area.
However, he treats a four state area as well.
I believe his physician assistant is going to the training as well.
I do trust Dr. F with my children's health.....
As well as mine.
Hugs,
Geneal
