I read somewhere on Flash about an earlier episode of Diagnosis X. Well, I watched for the first time, tonight's episode. I was miffed. At first I was glad to see a severe form of lyme disease being shown. Of course, they dismissed it at first (You don't want to see how I was yelling at the TV, "it's lyme, dummy") LOL
But when they had ruled out MS and syphillus, they came back to lyme. But, these so called real doctors kept calling it lymes, with an S. Also, they kept calling Herxheimer, Hexheimer leaving out the r. From what I understand, these are real doctors on this show. I guess I am being nit picky. But, if I can learn the terminology and pronounce it correctly, they should be able also.
As for my background, I became ill in 1988 after spending a life living in New Jersey woods. I finally diagnosed myself with the help of many lymie friends, and a lyme expert. I am now in my second year working 17 hours a week as a Supervisor for an after school program. My life dream was to be a teacher, but this job is now my life dream, which I love. Today was our first day back, and boy do I hurt. Sadly, brain fog kept me from remembering the kid's names from last year (but they are used to it). LOL

You are so right! They could at least know the proper name for a disease and a reaction to meds!

A lot of people call it lymes or Lyme's because then it's like including not only lyme disease but its co-infections as well (as most people get lyme AND some co-infections). I used to hate when people called it lymes, too, but it doesn't bother me now that I consider lymes as being able to mean lyme AND co-infections.
:-) But yeah, I'm sure the doctors weren't thinking of it like that when they said lymes. haha.

Wish I could have seen it too, but I probably would have been as "ticked off" as well Especially since I just went thru the whole "Lyme's' Disease thing with a doc at the ER last Thurs. morning... Went by ambulance for a case of severe vertigo and ended up walking out with a severe case of "thanks for nothing"...

I love that show, but I may need to stop watching it to save our TV from a flying remote.
I'm not real savvy here....I'm simply infected with Lyme disease. I tested positive on the ELISA first time and my test results on the blood test reads: Lymes: POS
So, I don't know....I figure most of us non-savvy folks are just reading the report and make the assumption that it's called, "Lymes".
