Does anyone know if high liver enzyme levels are indicative of Lyme. I'm near 100% certain I have Lyme even though 3 different tests came back negative. When I was 12 or 13 (cant remember, Im 33 now) I had the rash on my ankle and back of my knee and didnt know what it was. It went away so i thought nothing of it. gradually over the years I've gone through symptomatic bouts that were mild to severe which doctors basically couldnt explain so they said i was depressed and gave me antidepressants, even when i told them i thought i had lyme disease. Now, over the past 5 or 6 years, my liver enzymes have gotten increasingly high and I was curious if this could be related to Lymes or if it was something totally different. Can anyone help?

Hello
I would say, find a Lyme Specialist and get checked out.
I don't think the high liver enzymes is exactly a symptom of Lyme but it is a possibility.
Before I was diagnosed with Lyme, I had high liver enzymes but maybe just a coincidence?
Good luck and get to a Lyme Doctor.

It was found that I had high liver enzymes and a biopsy revealed inconclusive results (just mysterious inflammation). Liver Doc was asked, "Do you think it could be Lyme?". He replied, "Not likely". I had a general practitioner test me for Lyme and came up positive. The enzymes corrected over the course of antibiotic treatment. Cooincidence, perhaps.

Lyme disease can cause a great deal of inflammation in the body....and can damage any organ it so desires.
Get evaluated by an LLMD.
Also...If you want more replies, put the query up in Medical Questions. Most people on this board go there first.
Some don't even know General Support exists!! Posted by tdtid (Member # 10276) on :
Without wanting to sound like the rest, I'd definitely get in to see a LLMD. If nothing else, it would help you feel at ease if you could get it ruled out.
But as we all stress, get to a SPECIALIST and they know what they are looking for.
As far as the liver, mine has been running high and they always said it must be from all the meds they had me on before my diagnosis, so I don't know which is the case...whether it was meds or lyme, so bottom line...get it checked out by an LLMD and keep us posted.
