I just started back on treatment for Lyme. I have to drive 2 hours sometimes longer when the roads are bad to see the Dr. My own Dr "humors" me. He says I have had more tests than he can believe some of which he has never heard of.

I attempted treatment 2yrs ago, My TSH spiked not mildly either and the treatment was stopped while I have ridden a roller coaster of hyper and hypo thyroid ism.

My specific Lyme is Ehrlichiosis. I have been off work for over 4 years now and it sucks.
I always get comfused though when someone mentions ehrlichiosis as it seems as they are referring to something other than lyme. I have lived closer to the west than east coast, been bitten by Ark, Tx, and Tn ticks on numerous occasion and evidently was bitten in BC a little over 10 yrs, maybe 12 as I had the rash and no one could identify it. Along with the rash I started having migrating pains which I ignored as well as my swollen glands that were not infectious according to the Drs.
I am feeling very ill right now after a week on biaxin and have not even started the flagyl yet.
I have dreams that i am dying and my head feels like a well played with basketball.
I have had this for so long that I wonder if I can ever get better for real.. and can someone clear up the ehrlichiosis thing for me? sorry so lengthy, i get off task and off on tangents.

Well that may be because it ISN'T Lyme per se. It is one of the coinfections of Lyme borreliosis.

Do you also have Lyme disease? Maybe if you get treated for it as well, you will make some progress??

Have you been treated for babesia?

Swollen glands could indicate bartonella.

What meds are you on for the erhlichiosis??

I am being treated for Lyme,

the ehrlichiosis was double or triple on 5 strands.
I of course lost or "misplaced" my test results as it was a long time ago.
(over 2years.)

th B lyme is not as strong on the results be it babeoisis or bour..cant spell today. [shake]

Dr M has them and opted me out of treatment after 2 months as TSH was flagrantly elevated.

He started my treatments again last week and am really feeling the herx.

so something is happening.

I started out on biaxin and will add the flagyl tonight. [confused]

My head is in constant pain now and would like to smash it between 2 cold hard rocks.

Erlichiosis is a different disease than lyme. It is referred to as a coinfection because it is also transmitted by a tick, and so many people

who have lyme also have this coinfection. Coinfections make lyme more difficult to treat.

The other common ones are babesia (parasite), bartonella and mycoplasma (bacteria). You can also be coinfected with viruses such as Epstein-Barr and HHV-6.
