I am wondering if there is a cohort of advocacy attorneys who have taken up the Lyme agenda? Does anyone know of class action type suits against the insurance companies etc? Seems to me the quickest way to change the momentum on an issue is through the courts. There are legal advocacy groups for the blind, mentally ill, etc. I am thinking seriously about law school.

Tincup may be able to address your question about a class action. A few years ago, she attempted to fact find on the subject. Many of us put together questionaires for her but unfortunately, nothing materialized.
It's a complicated topic filled with state & federal regulatory issues, fragmented defendants etc.
Advocacy lawyers? There's a rare breed. In general, if there ain't a $ in it for them, they ain't interested. Pro bono services are rarely offered in this area. Plus, if your talking malpractice, most lawyers will tell you it's easier to reel in plain-vanilla Slip & falls and auto accidents that are less costly to prosecute. Additionally, many of these lawyers prefer litigating cases where the catastrophic injury is more obvious. Sad to say, but several JDs had the same sentiment.
