I had a bad episode of restless leg last night. As soon as I'd fall asleep some weird sensation in my brain would pull me out of sleep. My arms and legs needed to move or I'd have the weirdest odd pains.

It's 1pm now and just now getting out of bed, totally feeling beat up exhausted.

What can I do to help myself in the meantime.

I already do a g/f c/f sugar free diet. I can hardly take care of the kids.

I was just diagnosed a couple weeks ago. First appt with LLMD in Jan.

THanks

Here's what I would suggest,,,try taking some GOOD calcium nd magnesium.

If it helps great,,if not move on to something else after a month or two!!

MOST lymies are short of those two things and they are directly muscle related so,,,one makes muscles contract other release,,,

they have to be in a 2 to 1 balance OR problems appear,,is this why it happens for YOU???

NOBODY knows, so try,,dont think tests mean nothing cause they may be getting blocked somehow!!

Oh and for sure be taking a good multi-vitamen for good measure!!

Thanks Don.

I do Ca/Mg in the Natural Calm. (I believe this has the right ratio). I do one cup a day.

I have also done several diff kinds of Mg with no effect.

Chiro did a urine test on me told me I don't absorb my Ca/Mg. Is this common with Lymies?

My body doesn't seem to absorb anything. [bonk]

I had a lot of GI issues from bartonella and bacterial dysbiosis. Once I got those treated, I could even eat gluten again.

I get restless legs when my iron levels get low, how is your iron?

I would suggest detoxing while you're waiting for your LLMD appt. Eat a healthy diet, exercise if you can, no alcohol or sugar ... just do all the things you know you should be doing anyway. Also get lots of rest ... usually we Lymies have no problem with that.

Now would also be a good time to start probiotics if you don't take them already.

I really don't know how my iron is at this time. I eat good meats, veggies, including Liver, (yum) with lots of onions.

I was always anemic when I was pregnant and I did have many RLS attacks during that time.

This is the first in a long long time for the RLS.

The only thing I took differently was something called Nutriferon by Shaklee and Sarsaparilla. Maybe I was just having a bad herx with those supplements?

Thanks Six

TS, hello. IMO, from experiencing this off and on, your symptoms of restless leg were not because you took something. Herx? I don't see a connection with myself & herx either.

I have this in my arms and legs just like you described. The pain wakes me up and I have to move around, then I fall back to sleep and bam, there's this awful pain again. This goes on for hours. Over and over again.

In the last two years I'd say it's happened maybe
12 times. I would describe it as being from the central nervous system, like electric jolts? I've been ill for over 7 yrs, but this seems to be something that starting happening after two embedded ticks in summer 05.

I know it is frightening to me. You? I take good mags/cal. I'm not doing any iron. I'm going to have some blood work next week. I think I will have these levels checked to make sure.

Goofy, does this sound like your restless leg sx and tell me more on the iron issue?

Pam

For my restless legs it feels like I have to constantly move them, if I don't they are uncomfortable right behind my knee. I have to move them ...

I noticed the connection with low iron when I was pregnant. I was getting tested weekly or every other week for hemoglobin because I tended towards anemia. After a while I noticed I only had RLS when I had low hemoglobin.

When I mentioned this to the PA at the LLMD's office, she said she had just read a study that made the same connection ... not to say it's the only cause of RLS ....

Pam,
I wouldn't call my RLS as electric volts rather feels like bugs are crawling inside my bones.

I'm leaning towards the low iron at this point.

But when I got out of bed at 1pm I felt like I got hit by a truck, and very weak. Then again I feel like this everyday but not to this extent.

Thanks

Which one makes your muscles relax? I swear mine are on permanent lockdown.

I've tried heat, ice, rest, stretching, even paying $75 a week at the chiropractor. I'd stand on my head if I though it'd help.

I don't know about common, but my body doesn't absorb anything either. I have scurvy that would rival a pirate.

I don't have any advice on what to do between now and your appointment; supplements have never helped me- whatever it is that keeps me from absorbing vitamins from food keeps me from absorbing them in supplements as well.

Hang in there! [hi]
