I'm 40, happily married with a 2.5 year old son but had an incredibly rough 2007. Like many w/LD feeling lousy, I saw way too many Dr's, had xrays, a few MRIs, etc. with no diagnosis. Finally, a competent neurologist tested for Lyme. Despite a negative result he was convinced it was the source of my neurological symptoms (2 bands positive). He was not very LL so I found a LLMD and have been on oral antibiotics since 8/07. I never did test positive but thanks to Igenex and my LLMD, my next tests indicated I was positive to more of the 'right' bands and indeterminable to several others. A subsequent test for erlichia was +. It was scary prior to diagnosis, thinking I had a brain tumor or one of the S's, I actually hoped my Lyme test came back positive! Hard to believe I was initially relieved after the LD diagnosis, however, after some research and digesting it I was depressed wondering why I (or my docs) didn't know about this issue sooner?!" I had a majority of the classic symptoms. Why is there so little awareness for a disease that 1-sucks the life out of you, 2-is difficult to treat, and 3-so prevalent in my state? I know, preaching to the choir . . .
Based on my initial illness and symptoms I experienced some time ago, I'm guessing I got LD in late 2005. I spent some time in the woods of Monmouth NJ during that period but never noticed a tick, bite, or rash. I have a plan now and it's all good, I've waged war on the little *******s and perhaps will thank them one day for extending my life. I now eat better, drink less, and exercise more!! Aside from the muscle twitching, numbness and tingling sensations, I'm doing OK after 6 months of doxy, azithro, rifamp, flagyl, zbec, acidoph....

I agree with CaliforniaLyme...... Dr. B in Red Bank is awsome........... ......been seeing him since around 1996.... he is really great........helped/helps me out a lot along with other dr's. Don't be afraid of the title phyciatrist he has so much knowledge of Lyme.

Hey Earl. Sorry you have to be with us. But you will find support and many people on this site with good advice. Just be aware there is an abx support part of lyme & company and also an alternative support part of lyme & company on lymenet.
Sometimes we don't agree on treatment ideas and we get testy sometimes with each other.
I personally am someone who was lucky enough that my Internist called it possible lyme within 10 days of coming down with the flu-like illness from hell. He put me on abx immediatley.
He and I didn't realize that the months prior and my knees were killing me and I was having trouble walking up a flight of stairs with this off and on pain.....was early lyme & company first symptom in my body.
