I know this sounds crazy but I can't get enough tomatoes.Anything with tomatoes in it. I have been on minocycline for 2 weeks. Going thru my herxing, body pain, pounding in my head etc.
Has anyone had this happen to them?
Thanks

I just crave things like coke icees and chocolate cake! [shake]

My LLMD has a "herx" diet. When you are herxing you should avoid a few things.

Tomatoes are one of them....

We grow Creole tomatoes here. So good.

You can just eat them off the vine.

I've been known to eat enough at one sitting to create little acidic bumps in my mouth.

Hugs,

Geneal

Amen to the home-grown tomato and the joy of going into the yard and getting them as fresh as they can be...and, biting into it, and juice running all down your chin [Big Grin]

I am sorry to hear that these delicious morsels can be a no-no on a herx diet [Mad]

My DW loves them so I hope that she doesn't have to go on any herx diet that may exclude them

Good health to all [group hug]

Until that day

Oooooh! Home grown summer tomatoes. Da-rool!

I grew up on 'mato sammiches. [Big Grin]

White bread, slather of mayo, big slices of home grown tomatoes, a little salt and pepper.

Dang! Now I want one... or three! [lick]

Hmmm....I wonder why tomatoes are a no-no on a herx diet.

They are loaded with lycopene which is an excellent antioxidant so I assumed they'd be great while herxing. I read that ketchup, tomato soup and tomato paste are even better, believe it or not, because the processing makes the lycopene more easily absorbed by the body.

Oh yeah! Speaking of tomato sandwiches, I had them growing up too but we used polish rye bread with butter, sliced tomatoes, diced onion and salt and pepper. Oh I so want one right now too! [lick]

My LLMD said to avoid tomatoes, potatos, eggplant, peppers...

No spices except salt and pepper.

I can't remember the rest....but I hope I am not herxing this summer

When my tomatoes are ready to eat.

I don't even spray mine so I can just eat them warm off the vine.

I do the same with our blackberries, blueberries, plums, peaches, etc.

Now I am craving a fruit salad. [dizzy]

Hugs,

Geneal

The list that Geneal rattled off is the nightshade family,,think it includes more, even peppers.(OOPS,,,edited to say she had that listed too)

They call elimenating those as a pain free diet.

They drive me up the wall. I can feel my toes actually ache when I eat too many potatoes.

Tomatoes in ANY form, altho they are good for you,,,make my arthritis ache for days.

I so love tomatoe sandwichs too and almost live on them in season.

Problem is OUR season is way too short and way too late.

No matter what you do,cant get 'maters to set fruit sooner than August here.

To heck with the pain,I eat them,,,cut back on potatoes alot all thru the year,

I also threw away my 'pepper' shaker and eat NO pepper,,it hurts too!! dont realy miss it after a while,,,mostly habit!!

I do eat salsa and for some reason THAT doesnt bother me much. The white corn chips I put it on does more!!

I gave up potatoe chips for a long while,,,went back to them cause was running out of food I COULD eat!! As long as I dont eat a whole bunch,,,some days are worse than others!!

I used to eat ALOT of sandwiches of every style,,,trying to cut back on bread intake and that seems to help also.

I eat MORE soup now,,,cant get enough of GOOD soups like bean and ham,,,and chili,,,altho the chili bothers my arthur'itis alot. (NO chili powder tho)

HMM,,,snowed several inches here. Ground is pure white all day, temps barely IF above 32*,,,think I will make a pot of chilie,,,thanks for the idea!!Hurry over and share!!!

Thats what I think--being--just don--

I'm sure that is the reason. But if you have pain all the time, you need to avoid those foods all the time. It can take up to 6 wks for your body to clear the foods so the pain will be lessened.

I hate to say it...but it was 82 degrees here today.

I planted my tomatoes already.

We actually can plant twice a season.

Unless we get a hurricane. [dizzy]

Hugs,

Geneal

It's very warm here too! [around 80] But I'd have to plant them in containers on my patio. No yard ... just a forest behind me!

Yum... I'll just visit the Farmers' Markets this summer!

What a pleasant surprise,,,Andie hiked walked right up my driveway,,,right on time for the chili feed!!

What a beautiful and wonderful person we have in OUR midst,,,we are so blessed!!

Maybe this belongs in hikers walkers thread,,,I have always been in the wrong place,,, at the right time.

Or is that the right place,,, wrong time?? Thanks be to her for extending her walk a 'tiny bit'

Anyway Andie was carrying her cornbread as promised. But we worried all night long, fearing TUTU got lost someplace.

We sent out the Saint Bernards and they came back empty handed also,,,little barrels still full!!

We ate and ate,,and had a terrific time 'visiting',,, Andie and I,,, and then it was time for her to hike home!!!!

What a WONDERFUL evening!!! I enjoyed the company,,,

but where is the missing person??? Hope found and well!! MAYBE her dear hubby wouldnt let her come to MY house,,,I wouldnt blame him!!

Anyway end of MY report,,,ooops,,,I still have a half a crock pot of leftovers,,,anybody game for those??? THANKS for the memories Andie!!! while IB--just don--

I am finding, since being on tetracycline I am craving anything with salt and carbs!

That is when I am not extremely nauseous.....

Don, I'm still wandering out in the snow. Please send the St Bernard's again. I'm really thirsty and freezing to death!!

MMMmmmm, fresh, fried green, or in sauce!

Is the party over? I don't have snow shoes JD, or I'd be there! I'm afraid there's white stuff between my place and yours.

It's snowing off and on here....not sticking much though. About 30 degrees, where's SPRING?

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

Meg....Spring was HERE the other day, but it left again!! [Roll Eyes]

But I know it's on the way!!!!!
