Biologists track carcases in E. Idaho river

- The Associated Press
Edition Date: 05/15/08

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -- Spring runoff is bringing a few grim reminders of the challenges last winter posed for eastern Idaho wildlife.
Idaho Department of Fish and Game biologists say melting snow has helped flush several animal carcasses into the Henry's Fork of the Snake River.

Game wardens say they have found the remains of at least eight moose, two elk and two deer in the river west of Rexburg. They say most of the animals likely died of starvation.

Wardens also say the moose were covered with thousands of ticks, which may also have been a contributing factor in death.

Here is one from the National Geographic Channel...Very sad:

You will have to put the word MOOSE in the search box for the video to come up for some reason.
