Hi, I'm so glad I found this site. I have to admit I was completely ignorant to Lyme disease until last week.
Sometime around April I was bit by a tick and didn't think anything of it. No rash and no problems. Actually I thought it was a beetle or some kind of bug that was hard to get off my skin. Then around May 20th I felt bad enought to go to the doctor. I had so many symptoms that changed all day long. My doctor tested me for everything and on June 16th my Elsa test came back positive for lyme. Now I'm waiting the infectious disease doctor to get my western blot back. They are already minimizing my symptoms and saying they don't think I have it. Lately I've become so sick. My neck pain is the worst, constant headaches, nausea, blurred vision and chest pain. I've already had signs of heart problems and had several ekgs. The mood swings I'm having are out of control.

My question to all of you is if I show positive on western blot should I settle for the 30 days of therapy that the infectious disease doc would give? There is a LLMD about an 1hr away and my insurance will cover the inital visit. To be safe should I leave the infectious disease doc and go to the LLMD? Or did I catch this early enough to just get a simple treatment with the infectious disease doc?

I would suggest calling the LLMD and making an appointment. Then go ahead to the ID and get started on treatment ASAP. The faster you are on something the better.

Then the LLMD can adjust, depending on what he feels is best for you.

My personal opinion is that I would run to that LLMD that is only an hour from you. It will save you more agony and aggravation than you could possibly manage.

By sticking around and waiting to see what these doctors that don't specialize in this will do for you, you will be wasting precious time AND money.

Good luck to you and I'm glad you found us. Stick around.
