Hi all-

Well...I got the shock of my life and found out I am pregnant with # 3. I feel better now than I have in 2 years so I know I am heading for a slight remission. Of course I am scared out of my mind for my unborn baby. We just found out my other two carry the bug and are treating my 7 year old now. She is doing much better than even a few weeks ago. My son has it but is not affected yet. Husband is being treated too but doesn't have bad symptoms either. Please pray for the health of our baby boy. I am continuing my antibiotic treatment throughout. Not sure that I can nurse this one though. Any advice on that?

Thanks!

Ruth

My LLMD believes that nursing is okay IF you are on antibiotics, but I know many doctors do NOT believe it is okay.

You can get your breast milk tested. I believe Igenex will do it. (www.Igenex.com) Though, I wouldn't necessarily always believe the tests. You can also get the umbilical cord blood tested, I think.

I think there is a Dr. J in Connecticut that specializes in pediatric Lyme. You may want to consider him. He may have some advice for you.

Ultimately, it is your decision. They know it CAN be transmitted through breast milk, but whether it always does or if antibiotics help, I believe that is up in the air.

Good luck, and I will say a prayer for you and your family!
