For the last 2 days we have discovered a dead mouse on the dining room rug in the morning
Mice have ticks!
They are dead thanks to our cat, but she is indoor - she doesn't wear a tick collar or anything,
I don't know where they are coming from.
In the past maybe this would happen every couple of years - not 2 days in a row!
Any suggestions. I am very chemically sensitive - I am afraid of what an exterminator might do.

I've been there for months, but I thought I had mine gone and then I kept finding new "calling cards."
Tried mouse traps, caught some, but obviously not all. Finally, I resorted to finding a way to get rid of them once and for all.
The company I am working with has set bait for them inside containers that are both inside and out. My dogs couldn't get to if they tried, which is reassuring. It's also not where it would bother me.
There's poison there, but it's not something that you smell or breathe in. It's inside the bait and they just ingest it and go and die (bleed to death)!
The company will continue to come out for up to year for a very reasonable price, in my opinion.
Hope you can find a workable solution for you.

Yuk! Last year in our country home we had over 15 mice - Began counting because there were SO many! Afer dealing with Lyme I was beside myself! Can you say tick phobia?
Since our old killer cat is long gone I set 4 traps & had my husband crawling around the exterior of our home looking for how they could be getting in.
I wasn't too surprised to have a few in the winter, but the majority of them appeared in June/July-which really puzzled me.
Do you have windows in your basement? Finally discovered they had gnawed a small hole in the TOP of a basement window screen & had an "open" door all that time.
Hadn't seen it during the warmer weather because when the window was open a pipe blocked the view from inside & it was high enough up that it was not really visible from outside!!!
Check EVERYWHERE! This was so obvious, yet we still missed it.
Now if I could only eliminate all the chipmunks in my yard...... Good luck!

The only drawback to the poison is that the mouse can die in the WALLS or ceiling of your home....causing a stench for weeks/months!!
I think there is a new kind of trap that is inside a rectangular "box."
I've only heard about it.. haven't seen one.
It might be safe for your cat.
Why don't you Google "mouse traps?" Happy trapping!!!
My stealthy cat gets them immediately, but obviously this is a problem!
We steel wooled where we think they are getting into the kitchen from, but are going to check the basement today and crawl space etc...

When we lived in the country, we had outdoor cats and we got NO mice in the house. If we didn't have cats, we had indoor mice.
If you get an outdoor cat, don't get too attached .... unfortunately their lifespan is much shorter than indoor cats .... too many predators including cars.

Lark, be proud of that cat. I have six in the house and they play with one and loose it.
Four cats are from my lymie finding kittens and begging and then not taking care of them..One is from my mom moving in with us and the last one is my oldest daughter moving and not being allowed to have pets. Three are in mom's apartment and the basement and 3 have the run of the rest of the house. They will not be replaced when they go to the Great Beyond. They are all too well fed to hunt anything except toys.
I have used traps because we live in town and neighbors have outside cats. I would not want to end up poisoning one of them.
We usually find 2 or 3 mice a year. Not sure how many we miss. But we have never found the point of entry. Good luck. lymemomtooo

Our "mouse catcher" is 18 years old!
We are very proud of her.
She is an indoor cat, and doesn't eat them, just kills them. She is very well fed too!
Well, we figured out how the mice were getting into the kitchen so we filled those gaps but now I guess we have to find out how they were getting into our house to begin with!
