Ok, first I want to thank all who have responded to my post about my 5 yr old, honestly never thought we'd still be dealing with this almost 2 years later.
I've decided to get the ball rolling on Monday. My plan is to call my son's primary (who misdiagnosed him) and ask for him to refer him to Dr. J in New Haven. Wondering if he will & if insurance will allow it. (Have HMO). What has been your experience with insurance companies & LLMD's? I will pay out of pocket if necessary, but guessing it's very costly.

I wish you good luck. I am not aware of what insurances, if any, Dr. J might take, but my general take on this matter is that most LLMDs aren't on HMO panels...Perhaps if your PMD builds a case with your ins. co, they MIGHT make an exeption, but I would think that if your pediatrician was sufficiently Lyme literate to see the need to build the case then he would be himself Lyme literate and therefore open to treating your child. Best of luck to you and your littleone. I have spent thousands of dollars on my daughters Lyme treatment. Her renewed good health has made it worth every penny to me though.
