I just read an article vindicating the Atkins diet and low carb eating in general.
I think it's awesome. Just have him eat proteins and all the green vegetables he wants.
NO SUGAR

I lost 50 pounds on Atkins almost 4 years ago...kept it off, give or take 10 pounds
If you do it, make sure you read the book...it can be dangerous to your liver and kidneysif you don't follow the diet correctly. It makes perfect sense when you understand the concept. I think I've had sweets maybe 3 or 4 times since...I don't miss it. Everything seems too sweet, even with the slightest bit of sugar in it now.
Starch is as bad as sugar too...one thing he says in the book is it is ok to cheat once in a while...once you get through the phases...BUT (big but) if you have an addiction to something (candy, pizza, etc) and you think you may binge if you have some again, then replace that addiction with something else...something healthy
