Monday-Me and Rocky 2 1/2 miles. It sure was pretty cool and blustery.

Need to walk more to work off all the weight I'm sure I gained from Turkey day.

I love Glacier National Park. One of my favorites in the continental U.S.

Really struggling with bone pain lately but trying to keep the circulation going by walking up and down my hallway, but still not "walking" to a point that I have anything to talk about.

All of you are such fighters. I know we all are struggling and yet those of you that can push through it are to be commended. Good job.

Akinwolf..glad to hear you were able to get out.

Tues pm: 1 hr outing. I think I was on my feet longer than normal. Not sure how long it took me to get there.

I walked the dirt road to the new developement. They are working on cutting the roads, putting in piping, sewers, electricity. The lots are 2 acres.

9 are backed up to the forest.

The lots alone are selling for $250, 000 to $400,000.

Wed am: Out at dawn. Scraped ice off of windshield. Much easier for me this year than last winter. But, still exhausting. AT least the brain is not struggling too.

Est 30 min on feet. Walked to Phoenix Tree. Sat on rock for a bit to drink a cup of coffee and regroup. Then walked the rest of the trail.

Good outing this am. Not normal. But, happy I was able to do what I could. I was aware of the little struggle it took for each step.

Looking forward to one of those walks when walking is normal. It is about time for it.

Heard it was 26 degrees out this am.

After I scraped the ice off of the car and started down the road the ice covered the window again. Lyme Fog again.

But, the brain figured out I needed to turn the defroster on high. One long block later the windshield was clear.

Next time I hope to turn the defroster on high while I am scraping the ice off of the car windshield and see if that works.

Rosie got to play with Rusty again in the woods. This is good. It gives her the exercise she needs.
She then comes home and rests.

And it is fun watching the dogs play.

Wed pm: Able to do things during the day and walk in the am and pm. Amazing. I like it.

Tonight went in search of the lots that are backed up to the National Forest.

Started off in a almost dry creek bed. So doing better tonight.

It is a step up for the brain and body to navigate a creek bed than it is walking on a trial that is flat.

Saw the bridge they built over the creek.

Went the other way and saw a dirt road that backs up to the forest. Right now the big boulders are in the middle of the road. I am hoping they leave them there.

HUMP DAY Things are looking up.

Thur am: 20 min in forest. Heard a few birds this am. Ice on the pine needles and the ground was crunchy.

When I woke up this am I was not so sure the body was going to be able to do the walking thing.

Glad I gave it a try.

Thurs pm: 4 min in the woods.

But, I also walked into the post office and checked my mail.

Fri am: Walked in dog park, rosie did her thing, walked out.

Couldn't sit on chairs as they were iced over.

Too much. Too much movement, talking, barking. REcoverying and then hoping to fix something to eat.

Sat am: est 20 min to phoenix tree

Watched as sun started to come down the mountain tops. Great show.

Also able to get gas after walk. Stopped in Walmart and picked up a few groceries via the scooter.

Very unusual for me to be able to do these things and hope it stays.

Usually can only do one thing and then need to come home and lie down.

Need to take a couple of excedrin as brain feels like it is swelling or something.

Wasn't normal doing these things, but at least I was able to do them.

Sat pm: I have that pregnant/pain in gut thing going on.

Have not had lunch or dinner.

I did try to go for the walk and did it. 15 min est.

Saw the participates in this year's Christmas Electric LIght Parade lining up.

I just couldn't take in what I was passing by. Don't think I will even be watching out my window.

I am keeping track of all of you walkers, and those that are trying to heal so they can get to the walking stage. You are all amazing.

I know that I do not post much here anymore, but I do check in on your posts more often than you think, so I can be sure you are all OK.

I am still going to the gym, and was actually hired there recently to conduct meditation classes. It has been slow going (why are people so freaked out by meditation?), but there are a few faithful attenders that are seeing the benefits.

Be strong, all of you, and stay positive. Although you are probably unaware, I keep sending positive, healing energy your way, and am praying for you to get well.

It is one year this month that I have been in remission. I think I may have made it through, and that lyme is just a memory for me.

Walking was real hard for awhile there! But for me, with Lyme, once I got on the abx and got through the first few weeks, the more I walked the better I ultimately felt. Of course I might have been very lucky to always do just the right amount. Yes, there were in fact times I gave up and was too tired or in too much pain. But when I did "just keep going no matter what", I was never sorry.

Of course, everyone's situation is different. It's probably best to be generally guided by how you feel, but at the same time to keep trying things; to figure out where you stand.

Gotta get back into the groove again. Sciatic nerve pain has hit me twice this week. My foot is even swollen.

hang in there, gang!

[bow] Good going, kam and ak and lou!

Lou, DAve and Tutu...

good to hear from you. Glad you and DAve are still able to get some exercise. I do believe it is important.

TuTu..sure hope that nerve lets up soon.

Thinking of taking this week off for for the Hiker's/Walker's Thread.

But, am still doing what I can when I can.

Watched part of Dr. Amen on PBS last night.

He listed the 10 things to do to help your brain.

I recall him mentioning that 30 min four times a week of walking or exercise made a big difference.

I wish he would scan some people with lyme disease and had that into his talks.

I looked for a dated post for the new week, but it looks like you are continuing on this one, so still wanted to drop on by.

Lou, it was so good to see you here. Wow....a year in remission. I can't even imagine, but know you worked so very hard to get there.

I know that so often, once people feel better, they talk about what they think was their magic bullet....whether it was a pill, a detox method, something naturopathic, a certain type of doctor other than our LLMD's...the list goes on and on.

Do you have some tips that you definitely feel had a major impact on getting you to the point you are after looking back at it in hindsight? Glad you keep stopping by.

Kam, Funny stuff. Yeah...sitting on icy benches doesn't sound like it would be one of the more comfortable things to do in life. You amaze me as you keep going and going. I definitely think we need to nickname you our Lyme Energizer Bunny here. You keep this thread moving for sure.

Tutu....I'm so very sorry to hear about your sciatic nerve. I have heard that is very painful and hope I'll never have to find out first hand. It sounds like you have been getting some really tough breaks this year. Here's to hoping that next year will be a great one for all of us and we will all be out walking up a storm.

Dave, I know what you mean about walking making you feel better. I think in my case, I was having trouble juggling the right amount. One day, I would be able to keep going and going and then the next, I would be lucky to make it up or down a flight of stairs like I was a whole different person. Then the next day, I was walking again, but worn out. Kam kept talking about finding our balance. I still never caught the right amount for myself personally. Hopefully you have better luck.

Actually I wrote this a few days ago and Lymenet seemed to not want to post it, so trying again after getting back from NYC for my LLMD appt.

Cathy, Good to hear from you. HOw did the appt and trip go?

I also am interested in hearing from Lou. I think she told us before, but teflon brain you know.

It has just been this year that i have been able to get out there and walk more consistantly.

I kept trying since 2001. Like you, I could walk one day and then it would be several days/weeks/months before it would happen again.

Very tricky.

The quiet forest helps me. I would not be able to even walk around the apartment buildings here.

Too much going on I guess??

If others start doing some from of exercise again, I will start up the thread again.

Watched a bit of Martina on Oprah in Colorado.

She walks with her dog. Uses the dog leash to wrap around a pole and does some squats and other exercises.

I think I might incorporate that next.
