Hey guys!

I've been on my IV Abx for just two weeks now.

I know that's not a long time, but I was just wondering how long it took some of you to Really notice a difference...?

I went undiagnosed for 15 years(at the age of 22)

I know it may take quite a while..

I was just wondering about some of your 'time frames' i guess..

Hope youre having an up day

hi green,

you might get more replies/readers if you posted that one in MEDICAL

and finished subject line by asking about IV abx being added to what you have.. [Smile]

I agree with Betty. This is an OK question to pose in Medical...but finish your statement so people will be more likely to open the post. I passed this one by several times.

depends on yer dose.

1gram/day got me noticeably sicker (Lots of fatigue in noticed.) by the end of 1st week. Since my dose was so low, the effects werent much worse than my orals.

BUt the heavy FATIGUE thing started pretty quick. At least you can sleep that way.

I'm on 1gram of merrepenem, twice a day and take Septra ds twice a day (1 Tablet contains 160 mg trimethoprim and 800 mg sulfamethoxazole)
start clarithro iv next week...

When IV meds for Lyme are mentioned, I think most people assume Ceftriaxone is the primary drug unless you mention something different. Several board members here have been treated with Merrem and Primaxin, but it seems that the feedback on the carbapenems is pretty limited.

Azithromycin, Vancomycin and even Doxycycline are sometimes used IV also, but reports on those are limited too. Please let us know the outcome of your treatment with Merrem. Hope that the meds have you feeling better soon.
