I'm so excited!!

I thought my 'activism' at my school was unsuccesful.

HOWEVER, they just brought in a researcher from Rocky Mountain Labs and all she does is Bb.

She has done research showing how Bb and some of its specific proteins help evade the innate immune system

I'm not sure if she's been officially hired, but she was their #1 candidate for a faculty position.

She gave a presentation on Monday morning and the head of my department (Molecular and Microbiology) seemed very impressed with what she had to say.

...so were other professors, etc.

Sooooooo... I wrote her a letter, letting her know how I felt about the whole situation.

I'm pretty excited and I think my prayers have been answered!

...Goes to show that if you don't give up spreading the word, good things will come!!!

How exciting and rewarding!

I hope she gets the position and you as well as your classmates

Get more opportunities to "pick" her brain so to speak.

Keep up the great work.

One person, one conversation, one believer at a time.

You rock!!!

Hugs,

Geneal

Thanks guys [Smile]

Lymetoo,

I've been trying to educate the professors in my major (Molecular Biology and Microbiogloy) about the truth about lyme disease.

In one instance, I was basically made a fool out of when i presented Dr. Macdonald's work.

I've also been trying to educate the pre-med groups at school about lyme; i showed the UOS trailer, discussed the politics, etc etc.

Luckily, a decent group of my friends (all of whom have been accepted to medical school [woohoo] ) took interest in what i was telling them are aware of the 'truth'.

...which we know will make them at least somewhat a group of LLMDs.

I hosted a screening of 'Under Our Skin' and had Mandy Hughes come and speak.

I sent out emails to the department heads of my major, as well as emails to the college of medicine and the college of nursing.

Guess how many staff/faculty/professors from all 3 majors showed up? You guessed it: ZERO

I've been giving everyone lyme booklets, speaking with them personally (some conversations were very in depth mind you), and it seemed to become more and more frustrating for me to keep attempting to educate people;

the people, mind you, that were in charge of teaching prospective researchers, physicians, pharmacists, dentists, etc.

and it seemed like my words would go in one ear and come out the other.

So when I heard about the researcher they may very well be hiring, I finally felt like i was being heard:

whether it was because of me or not, i feel a little more justified and i feel like they may finally be getting my point.

Plus, my university is the forth largest university in the country. I thought it would be beneficial to have such a large college take advantage of their size,

i hope that now they will.

GO GREEN!!!

That's fantastic!! You are an inspiration.

I like that you are planting the seeds into your medical friends. Whether they become LLMD or not they have the seeds planted. That is good.

Thank you for telling us what you have been up to as far as activism. I have just started to be more vocal this past year after 7 years of DX.

I also was just thinking about not trying so hard because of all the negative responses but you've inspired me not to let that part get to me.

Let us know if they hire the researcher.

Great work,

Fancy

Green,

That is so fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Way to go!!!

Surely she will lend a credible voice and be able to continue educating the faculty/staff/students about lyme.

Congratulations on all your hard work trying to spread the truth!!!

You are wonderful and will be a super terrific empathetic MD!

aww, dekrator, thank you so much!

I was so excited when I found out that they had hired her.
She was presenting her research to my department in january.

i wanted to go but couldnt b/c of my herxing on the picc line, but i wrote her a letter letting her know everything that we had been trying to do at school

and I am so proud of my department for seeing the importance of her work.
She worked with willy burgdorfer himself, so you know she's got some good information in her brain.

my boyfriend saw her presentation and said a lot of the professors were really impressed and asked a lot of questions.

SOOOooooo, I am hoping that this will bring a tremendous amount of validity and awareness to Florida.
Esp since UCF is now the 3rd largest university in the country, there should be even more respect for her work..

I'm really excited for what is to come.
I feel something very big in the future of lyme and i cannot wait to be a part of it!!

I love you guys so much!!
Thank you for all of your continued support. It is SO nice to have a group to come to, knowing that they will give you the love and support that you are needing.

I cannot express my gratitude for what you have all given me.

I will most definitely be giving back to what has been given to me, from SO many incredible people!!

Thank you again!!
