I strongly believe that those of us with Lyme are quite possibly the strongest people around.

Think about the people you know around you.

Could they handle what youre going through?

I think that as frustrated and overwhelmed we may get b/c of all aspects of this illness,

no one could handle it like we can.

.... just wanted to let everyone know that I have great respect you.

Through the stress, pain (physical and mental), and the trials presented to you, you are far stronger than your clueless neighbor.

I hope this message finds you on good day.
Maybe, you just needed a reinforcement how amazing you are for living with this disease.

either way, I think you're amazing.

I agree that I've learned a lot by being chronically ill. It began with IC, but that was caused by the Lyme also.

Not only that....
I've met some of the most inspiring, helpful, interesting people I've ever known, many of them here on LymeNet.

In spite of how sick they are, they find the time and energy to share what they have learned from their experiences with Lyme and co-infections.
Most people wouldn't make the effort.
That shows just how strong Lymies are!!

I often hear people tell me that they wouldn't be able to do what I am doing.

I don't think I would have thought I could do it either, if I wasn't being forced to live this nightmare.

Sadly, Lyme does show us that we have a strength that we probably didn't even know we had inside.

When people say they don't know how I do it, I can't help but think, "what choice do I have"? There's really no good way out of this mess, so we do what we have to for survival.

true very true...

and the sad thing is that today in the year 2009,
people all around, the modern medical community, our eleceted officials as the government are either in total denial, truly cluless or simply just don't care...

thats very bad and wrong and just maybe illegal, hopefully it will all change soon.

so yes we unfortunately are a very unique bunch of folks.

My Mom always said it was a good thing Katrina took my house

And no one else's in my family.

She always said that if anyone could handle it, I could.

Then the Lyme and company.

I think that we become stronger, tougher, wiser, more compassionate,

Better advocators, better friends, and definitely more

Appreciative of a "good" day than others who haven't been ill.

Or haven't had to fight our fight.......yet.

I think that my friends here are the greatest friends.

Not all of us fair as well when presented with the task of dealing

In a disease that doesn't understand fairness or giving a day off.

I think it is a tribute to our spirit that the majority of us

Go on to fight "one more day", one day at a time.

I am humbled to be in the company of such wonderfully,

Incredible, resourceful, loving people.

Mr. Green, I think you will make the best physician.

Okay gang..seriously some real " on the money" posts...thank you all for being here..

i think for many of us understanding that we are sick but somehow we have a larger responsibilty for picking each other up, being advocates, and fighting this battle together adds some meaning to this nightmare. I never was in the milatary but you folks can come in my foxhole any day.

Thanks everyone for helping!! Lyme is such a physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually draining disease. Esp when the outside world has no clue how much we suffer.

When I became pregnant with my first child. I planned a home birth (and had one), the women I worked with told me I couldn't do it, said childbirth was just awful and I would regret not having the pain meds.

They didn't know what I had been through. Yes it was painful, but NOTHING compared to years of suffering with Lyme Disease.

You nailed it, we are the strongest group of people!
