I am visiting family in the Albany, NY area, which has just been declared an endemic area for Lyme disease. Check out this sign posted in a local park. It really freaked me out:

And this one is just horrible. It's kinda hard to see, because the guy was in his yard when I took it. The trampoline is positioned right over the tall grass, and the area is crawling with deer.

It just makes me cringe! I don't know if I should say something to the family.

I call it "the trampo-lyme"

They should have signs like that on Long Island. If they do I've never seen them.

I know. I think it is just fabulous. And it's displayed by the dept. of health, which is pretty amazing.

Oh, dear god! The kids that use that trampoline. And run through that yard. It's tragic that our lives have come to this...worrying about kids being kids.

I think the signage is good, though. Sorry, I couldn't see the one in the trampoline picture, but the first sign was "official" enough looking that I imagine a lot of people gave it some consideration.

That is a great sign!

Thanks for getting a picture of it and sharing.

My mother said they have more posted: on the nature trails and in other parks. People just accept it as a part of life around here. It's not a nice reality, but it is a relief to see that it is taken seriously.

But EVERYONE has been bitten. People have dogs and horses who have passed away from Lyme. And most everyone has at least one friend or loved one who is debilitated by Lyme.

Unbelievable.
