Good questions! I was wondering as well. I have been having oatmeal with stevia. I sometimes need something beside eggs in the morning. I was going to get V8 as I am not a big veggie eater but then saw the sugar amount on the back and got nervous.

I do eggs, oats, and V-8.
I'm trying to minimize sugar, but doubt I can cut it out compeletely.

I'm afraid to use stevia so I stopped using any sugar. I put cinnamon in my oatmeal and some blueberries (I need all the brain repair I can get) and I cut sugars out of most everything else so I was thinking maybe the sugar in v8 juice would be okay. ???

Afraid to use stevia???? Why?
Oatmeal is not TOO bad. V-8 probably has too much sugar.. read the label.
PS... oatmeal would be bad if you are trying to get a bad yeast situation under control.
If it's under control, you can likely get away with eating the oatmeal... but make sure other sugars are OUT.

I've always steered clear of V-8 because of the sodium--did you ever look at how much is in that stuff??????

ooooh, right I didn't even think of that!! no more V8 juice for me!! I look at the sodium in everything else, so I don't know why I didn't look at this.
Thanks, Trace

Still wondering why you're afraid of stevia? Is there something I don't know about it?
Posted by tpap1006 (Member # 19634) on :
well, maybe not afraid, just skeptical. "they" said saccarin ?sp was safe at one time too.

Hey Guys try a juicer. I just bought a Juiceman Jr at Wally-mart and LOVE it.....cleans up easy and you are getting the vital enzymes at their freshest.
Mix 6 tablespoons of chlorophyl in there too and what a good concoction.
agave for sweetner is yummy. Low glycemic. Comes from a cactus plant.
I eat oatmeal with berries and cinnamon...no problems with yeasties.

Thanks feelfit! I love juice. I put blueberries in my oatmeal too, I started that several weeks ago every morning and I swear my mind cleared up some. Trace

stevia is safe .. It's not a chemical... and it's nothing new.

Thanks Lymetoo, I'm so leary b/c I had terrible headaches for a year- years ago-before LYME, from using equal, took ahile to figure it out.
I will read more about stevia, it's new to me b/c I just heard about it 3 mos ago.
Thanks Trace

I have a 'group' at Lymefriends.com about low-carb eating for Lyme and candida control, and I have a huge thread there about alternative sweeteners that aren't artificial-chemical-based:
Thanks MariaA. I'm having a hard time kicking the sugar habit in my coffee. I have cut it mostly everywhere else. The coffee habit is tough to kick.

Yep, it took me a long time to get rid of sugar in coffee too even though it was easier in the rest of my diet. I still can't get rid of dairy in my coffee- I think dairy (other than yogurt/cheese/kefir) has a substantial amount of lactose that can be hard on people with candida, and for a while my coffees were all Lattes, where it was mostly milk and a small amount of coffee. I've switched to Americanos or regular coffee and much less milk.
