My wife Ima fell on Friday. Went to ER on Friday night and they took xrays and said no broken bones. She was inso much pain and could not believe that no broken bones. She told them she didn't believe them, her hand was moddled and she said she heard them snap when she fell. Gave her a sling for one arm and told her to take Advil. Nurse told her it was swollen because she hadn't been MOVING it enough! She was miserable all weekend. Found out this AM when primary called to ask her how she was doing that she actually has 2...TWO... broken arms according to radiology report. She can't get in to bone surgeon until WEDNESDAy as they have no appointments available. Nice healthcare system we have huh. She is really in pain and distraught.

Oh my goodness.

Your wife is certainly in my prayers, What a horrible situation.

And those ignorant health care workers are on my $hitlist.

I'd like to break a few of their bones and then tell them to take Advil and move it a little more.

Wow, thank God your caring PCP called to check up on her!

So she broke both arms or 2 bones in one arm? I hope the fractures are not displaced. Yikes!

It is not uncommon to have to wait a couple days to see an orthopedic surgeon but usually the ER/ urgent care will apply a splint to immobilize the fracture. It takes a couple days for the inflammation to go down before you can apply a full cast.

Poor Ima. Feel better soon [Smile] Maybe that nice PCP could call in some stronger pain killers for you?

Take care and please keep us updated. I'll be thinking of you and praying for you.

I am sorry for your wife. As if the fall wasn't bad enough. Then, to be under-treated and dismissed so disgracefully.

Do you think her fall was due to a Lyme symptom?

I am sending her wishes for a safe, peaceful recovery.

Oh My Gosh!

Please tell her that I am praying for her.

Thank you so much for letting us know.

Please keep us posted as you can.

I think that there may be grounds for a law suit there....

At least a letter and a call to the State Medical Board,

When your wife is doing better.

So sorry.

Hugs,

Geneal

Oh dear. So sorry to hear.

I agree with the others... what a shame to have been told that and it be so so so wrong.

I am sorry she is in so much pain.

Please send my best and THANK YOU for keeping us updated on her.

Please tell her Tincup said the only thing good to say about her rotten experience at that hospital was at least she doesn't have three arms.

[lol]

Maybe, just maybe she will smile a little?

I hope so.

Get well soon Ima....

We wish you well!!!

[Big Grin]

Mr Ima,
Thanks for telling us. You dont remember me but we shook hands once in Sioux City meeting of Dr. O from Maryland.

What a lousy time for such misfortune. Do you have enough help at such a critical time right NOW??? how many rows(acres) do you have left??

Please convey our sentiments and hope she CAN get the right treament to get past the pain,,parts.

So the healing can begin!! When I was accident prone,,,I was always threatened to be placed in the glass bubble!! Want me to ship one over??

I remain--just don--

I'm so sorry to hear your wife is suffering like this.

When my son was a Senior in high school (2004) he fell at the end of the evening (a Friday) at the Sr Prom and broke his arm.

We spent all night in the ER to get an xray and sling.

When he was finally seen by the Orthopedic surgeon on Monday, we were told he had to wait a week until the swelling went down before surgery for repair with pins.

While waiting for that week to pass, my son had to attend his high school graduation with his broken, painful arm in a sling.

Graduation was held outside and it was hot. I thought he was going to pass out, but thankfully he didn't.

He had surgery and all is well now. It wasn't fun at the time though, so I empathize with your situation.

I will pray for your wife.

I read your replies to her and she said to say thanks for all your concerns. The city will be footing the bill since it happened downtown. She tripped on their fairly new curb/sidewalk on main street. Either the curb heaved up or the sidewalk settled about 3 inches and her foot caught the lip and she tripped down off the curb onto the street. I guess someone else got hurt there already and the repairs haven't been made. It was witnessed by several. It was not lyme related, she wasn't dizzy or didn't lose balance.

Thankfully it rained or I wouldn't be able to help her. Not sure what we'll do when I go back to field again. She is frustrated she needs help to get dressed, do just about everything. She is pretty ticked off right now about the whole thing. They finally game her some Oxycodone to keep her comfy. She actually took it for pain which is unusal for her. Just Don.. corn, wheat is all planted so lookin good there. Let the sun shine. Got inch and a half this weekend.

Will let you all know what the surgeon says does after tomorrow.
