Please don't close this thread, I'm serious. Been on all the anti-depressant, anti-anxieties, pain meds, yadda yadda and good old mary jane is my favorite by far. The full body neurological nightmare that is lyme is somehow supressed when I get lit on herb.
There is a reason most states are now adapting medical marijuana plans, the stuff just WORKS.
A heavy indica will put you right to sleep at night. A good sativa will give you energy and help you to be more social in the daytime. If I lose my connection, I will risk the legalities to grow it myself.
F%^* pharmaceuticals and try nutraceuticals instead.

There has been shown to be some antibacterial property in the THC.
I staved off Lyme for 5yrs back in the late 70 's early 80's (I was bitten hundreds of times, also had fully engorged tick pulled off my arm) I was smoking a lot of pot back then.
The only reason I finally collapsed was because I had a major stressor. Google it here in the search bar because someone posted the article about the benefits and antibacterial properties.

Dear Toppers, A friend of mine had Leukemia when we were freshmen in high school. His physician prescribed marijuana pills to help with the miserable nausea from the chemotherapy. Thank goodness he had! The side-effects of the cancer treatments were so bad, he would not have been able to continue them without the "wacky tobacky".

Marijuana pills interesting. I've never heard of those. I have been considering smoking because the pain has been so bad but it would have to be home grown for me. I've had some in the past with something funky in it. I wonder how you get the pills...

i talked about this once before - and im sure people thought i was a stoner. But when the pain gets crippling, ad the vicodin only takes the edge off, I put my hubby on morning kid patrol, find the pipe, pop in a meditation cd, and FINALLY get a restful sleep.
I used to sneak out into the woods after my kids were asleep, but one night i eneded up getting bit by another **$#ing tick!! ...LOL...
so now i hide behind the garage on the pavement!!

And do see why it might help. Especially children
when nothing else works. Or the things they offer
could do more harm than good. They use it in a lot of
cancer patients and Bb patients should have that
same option to at least see if it helps. Great Idea.

I have seen cannabis exert a very powerful effect on persistant muscle cramps - better than benzodiazapines, even better than morphine. Seriously.
I am not going to advocate anybody breaking the law for treatment, and smoking for certain has detrimental health effects, but the positive effect is definitely there.

I am so grateful to live in Calif. where medical marijuana is legal. It is the ONLY thing that helps my daughter's pain.
There is a vaporizer you can buy so you don't get any smoke, just vapor, which is great for anyone with breathing trouble. Here is their website http://www.vaporbrothers.com/ .
We use indica at night and sativa in the day. The pills (Marinol) did not work at all.
I'm not advocating breaking the law, but if you live in a state where it is legal, it works.

This year in Massachusetts a law went into affect
that didn't criminalize people caught with under
1 oz of weed but would fine them $100.00.
Maybe I should go back to it.
I think my headache would go away.

I took LYRICA for two and a half years to control the neuropathy pain and neuro symptoms of what turned out to be Lyme disease. Lyrica is not marijuana,nor is it a derivative. It isn't even related...
however....I took lyrica....the pain and neuro symptoms went away....I got stupid...happy and had really bad munchies! Almost the same feeling as marijuana. So, for those who are interested in relief, but marijuana isn't an option, try Lyrica. It is approved to treat diabetic neuropathy, herpetic nerve pain as well as fibromyalgia. It is the new trendy drug.

Thankyou for the responses. The momentum is nationwide, more and more states are adopting Medicinal MJ.. People are finally realizing how valuable this plant is and how ridiculous the concept of MJ being outlawed is.

I wasn't worried about me, I just saw the topic & thought that I'd hate to see anyone that's suffering with these darn tick-borne diseases add some kind of legal trouble to their burden.
I'm more concerned about neurological problems than pain. Killing off my brain cells is the last thing I'd want to do. I'm too busy trying to keep the spirochetes from doing that.
I only posted in case anyone may not have been aware that IP addresses are traceable and were posted thinking that they'd have anonymity because they're using a screen name. It was merely a friendly caution.
Whether or not the police would want to be bothered I guess would depend on them and whether or not the disapproving parent of a pot smoking child, who happened to see their child viewing this board noticed this thread and filed a complaint.
I realize that the likelihood of something like that happening is probably quite far-fetched but, if it's a possibility, people who might have reason to be cautious may want to give serious consideration to what they're posting.
I know, I should mind my own business & I think I will. I don't know why I feel compelled to worry about everyone else's safety, even people I don't even know.... maybe it's a Lyme thing.

I use it a little bit -- for me, it helps with some pain but then makes me more aware of other (muscle) pain so it's not a panacea. But I asked my LLMD about it and he didn't think there would be any problem with my using it, in terms of interacting with antibiotics. He thought it was fine. Since I use such a small amount, I am not too worried about toxic effects of the smoke, either.

We have Medical M here in RI and I have my paperwork all filled out and ready to go.
They will be opening special care centers in this state soon where you can go buy pot if you have a Med M card. That's good cause on the streets here it's 300.00 to 350.00 an oz!
I here the price for an oz in these centers will be around 65.00.

I found this link on Marylands laws governing medical marijuana for those in need.
Most states have relaxed laws in using medical marijuana but it is still illegal to sell it. Its great California and now RI have centers to dispense. Check out the following link about what states allow use and what are the rules.
