I know this question seems inconsequential, compared to everyone else's problems. About 1 to 2 hours after taking a multi-vitamin, the chronic fatigue seems to get much worse. Any ideas?

My sister can't take them because she is allergic
to nickel and vitamins contain metals. That's one
reason, not saying its yours. I also know my
doctor tested something in my blood (?)to see if
my multi-vitamin was causing me problems. Other
people may have more to say.

Maybe you have some sort of imbalance that the vitamin is contributing to?

But we NEED B-vitamins for our nerve tissue, especially that in our brains and our hearts. It is a vital nutrient, our nerve cells can become starved.
B-vitamins can really upset the stomach if not taken with a moderate amount of food.
You might need to switch brands.
I really like a powdered protein/vitamin/nutrient mix and I do well taking that without food:
You can click on "supplement facts" for each of these links:
- They have a wonderful library where you can search all sorts of subjects - and they offer a long list of sources for their research articles.
They also have a vitamin that has never upset my stomach. Their manufacturing methods differ from many other companies.

My husband has always gotten flu like symptoms whenever he tried to take multi vitamins.
We figured it must have been some sort of allergy to the fillers.
Perhaps it's taxing your system too much.

ping,
are you sure it's from the vitamins. Would you get more tired at that time of day, anyway? Are you taking naps? They are instructed as being necessary by Dr. B's guidelines.
And, yes, the fillers can be a mighty drain. Be sure no gluten in there, too. Gluten can increase fatigue tremendously.

Thank all of you for your assist.
I work full time and usually would take the vitamin after eating breakfast. By 9-10am, I'm very fatigued.
Yes, I've stopped taking them altogether.

Deaffromlyme,
Really?? Eeek!! I've been trying to take one everyday lately!
Oh goodness, that's not good. I can't take magnesium because it makes my heart do crazy things, so I try to eat green leafy stuff and raw sunflower seeds to get my mg in.
It seems like almost everything we do seems to contradict Lyme one way or another!
take care, ocean

If you take something... even vitamins... and you feel worse...
It is your body saying don't do that.
I can not take vitamins. They make me worse.
IF I need one... I take that ONE... not a multi-vitamin.
Some people can't process B-Vitamins...
And they use the methyl B-12 instead.

Ocean - Like Tincup says below, just because I can't take multis doesn't mean that you can't take them. If you have no ill effects, then please don't freak on account of what I've said. Tincup - As usual, much thanks for your sound advice.
