I just wanted to share some good news with you all today. As the topic says, I met what I consider a major milestone in my treatment:)
I spent 5 hrs at an amusement park yesterday (Kings Island for those that are curious)! I didn't get to go last year because I was just plain too sick. I really didn't do anything last summer. It was all a blur.
Yesterday was proof that I really am on the road to recovery. I have a long way to go. Still dealing with alot of symptoms. But that constant fluey "feel like i'm going to die feeling" is pretty much gone!
Of course i'm wiped out today, tons of fatigue and body aches but hey, it was so worth it. I got to ride the best 5 roller coasters in the park. And I ate some really good blue ice cream It's tradition, you can't leave the park without having a blue ice cream cone!
Of course, the perfect mid-seventies temps with a cool breeze made things easier. And the fact that the park was relatively slow helped too. I also drank a lot of water and took some breaks in the shade.
And don't tell my doctor, but I did all this with my PICC line in place. I don't know if riding roller coasters with a PICC line is the smartest thing in the world to do but I survived and it was a great moral booster.
So, to those of you having a bad day or week or month, hang in there. There is hope. Keep treating, keep picking away at the infections and take care of yourself. We will get better!
Next time i'm feeling down and defeated and just plain beat up by this stuff again, will someone please remind me of this glorious summer day?
Thanks so much for all your support! You all have helped carry me to this point:)

I am so happy to hear of your great day. I am still upset because I missed the annual county fair last year because I was in bed with a picc line. My nurse suggested I go in a wheelchair. (I would have been mortified) I am hoping to go this year and I understand your sense of accomplishment. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah Sammy!!! If you journal, this is definitely one for the books. I'm so pleased that you had a BLAST!
I did things (clean church) that I wasn't suppose to do with my PICC line too. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
Any thing that you can do to boost your self-esteem is worth it in my book!
Yeah! Yeah!
