Hello all,

I was just diagnosed with Lyme this past Friday. I live in Canada, so I will need to go to US to get treated. So I will not have any insurance. I will have to pay for doctor's visit and drugs out of pocket.

Me and my husband are already strained financially due to me not working. We already have debts. We do not have a lot of room left on our line of credit / credit cards.

I am trying to decide what to do next / how to plan for the treatment. It would really help me if you can answer the following questions:

- How much do you usually spend for antibiotics / drugs / supplements per month? Please try to include the amount that your insurance pays for you, i.e. how much would it cost without insurance?

- How much do you spend for diagnostics / other tests / etc per month (without insurance)?

- How much do you usually spend for doctor's visit per month (not including travel)?

- Does the treatment cost go up after the first few months, stay the same or goes down?

I really appreciate your answers. That will help me in deciding what to do next.

Thank you,

Kive.

Not too much for me, LLMD visit was $100 and should remain the same for every following visit at 3 month intervals. My Biaxin dosage is about $100 or around there / month, but I only pay $5 copay or whatever that is, insurance grabs the rest. A quality probiotic with several strains runs me about $40/month out of pocket. A quality B-complex runs about the same. Both are the only supplements recommended by my LLMD to improve my treatment and that is the only reason I take them.

That's about it. Getting to the diagnosis and finally treatment? About $5,000 out of pocket on hospital bills, gimmicky protocols and useless supplements I estimate, but that's another story I'm trying to forget.

A good LLMD and antibiotics are the ONLY way out of this mess, good luck to you.

Cost me $800.00 for initial LLMD visit for my son, plus an additional $500.00 in testing.

His meds cost about $50.00 per month (with our insurance card). Future visits with the LLMD will cost $250.00 per visit.

My son is finally getting help, it has been worth every penny.... Hoping to be out of this nightmare in a year.

It really varies with your Dr, insurance and prescription plan, if any.

In the last 5 months.....

My first visit was $595, and subsequent ones every 4 weeks are $185.

I've spent at least $2500 on labs that insurance didn't cover.

I spend about $250 on meds and another $200 on supplements monthly.

I'm not lucky enough to have a small copay...I have to pay the usual, reasonable and customary cost for meds.

The amount really depends on the Dr. and the treatment.

If you are treated with IVs it's more expensive. If you are treated with oral abx, it's much less.

The blood work still needs to be done though.

Praying you get what you need.
