I just got a call from a very groggy Sara!!!
She is in severe pain and feeling horribly traumatized by her experience....she called it "the most hellacious thing I have ever been through in my entire life."
She said Liam is gorgeous, just beautiful, and looks exactly like David. She and her entire family say he bears no resemblance to her side of the family at all!
The scale they weighed him on was broken; later they found he actually weighs 9.1 pounds. He is doing great; but Sara is exhausted after five days of labor. They didn't do the C section until it basically became an emergency. She said she truly thought she was going to die. They do not buy into the Chronic Lyme at all. They gave her a bunch of epidural meds and at the same time epinephrine to counter act the fact that the epidural makes her blood pressure crash. She said she felt paralyzed from her chest down and couldn't breathe.
I told her I will come and stay with her at the hospital until she is discharged (about four days.) Or until she kicks me out. She told me that would be great, but of course she is on a ton of Morphine and who knows if she will really feel that way when I show up! Anyway I'm packing up an aerobed and going to RI. She said not to come tonight, she will be sleeping anyway....but if I can get a ride I"d rather go tonight while I'm awake so I'll be there already tomorrow.
She is in excruciating pain and said the morphine isn't even touching it. I feel so bad for her. I'm going to go there and do whatever I can to help.
Also I'll bring my camera so I can post up some pics of him!!! Can't wait to see him! She is too weak to even hold him. I am so ****ed that these *******s at the hospital put her through this.
Love and prayers to Sara, David, and Liam!!!

i so feel for you! best wishes on your recovery period now due to all you went thru.
yes, tracy, post photos please.
rest up sara! let them wait on you good .... Posted by Pinelady (Member # 18524) on :
Dear God. No one should have to be in labor for 5
days. If they had done an ultrasound and determined
he was such a big boy they would and should not
have made her suffer so. I am sorry this makes me
very angry.

Sara and David,
So glad to hear that Liam has made it safely into your world.
My heart breaks for all you had to endure with this hospital to get him here though.
Hopefully you are getting in lots of rest and that you can start to build up some energy from this exhausting ordeal.

Hey all, Quick update; I arrived here with Sara at about 3 a.m. They let me right in with no questions asked. Within 60 seconds of arriving the nurse bustled in with pillows, blankets, and sheets and encouraged Blake to stay as well. He was leaving and we were all worried about him driving an hour home as it was 4:30 am when he eventually left. He has severe sleep apnea though and can't sleep without his CPAP.
So we were very lucky; they were completely accomodating and let me stay no problem. Sara was very happy to see us, and told us she had choked on a pill earlier and felt safer knowing someone was staying with her. So I set up my aero bed on the floor next to her and haven't budged since.
The baby is incredibly beautiful and perfect. Last night Sara was too weak to pick up Liam so I got to do most of the caretaking, fed him and changed his diaper and clothes and held him a lot.
He is just so calm and peaceful when he lays with his mommy. He totally makes eye contact, follows you with his head, and even lifted his little head up right off my shoulder.
Today, Sara is up and moving and I think I've lost my role ALREADY as primary caretaker, dang it. Oh well. It's great to be here, the baby could not be more perfect.....and we will post more pics as we take them!!!
Sara just said, "Is this a dream?" ► Reply to This

Pictures are posted at www.lymefriends.com so go check them out! I am going to be adding more also!
Phew, Sara had SEVEN visitors at once; and she was up bustling around; more energetic than me. I slept for far more hours than she did. It was exhausting with all the people here! Her sister, brother in law and thier baby, her mother, her brother, her friend Allie (who is also here on Lymenet! Hi Allie!) and her friend Victor were all here at once.
Now all is quiet and Sara is exhausted. She totally overdid it and is now exhausted and resting in bed. She has taken pain meds and is about to fall asleep.
Liam is very, very relaxed and loves his mommy so much. He is quiet and peaceful at all times when he is nestled in her arms. While nursing he makes constant eye contact with her and holds her hand. He has taken to nursing right away with no problem, which is amazing. He gets bottles too as needed while Sara is resting.

So glad little (?) Liam is dooing so well.
What's a peaceful baby?
Neither of mine were EVER peaceful!
And Sara, I hope you recover soon from your ordeal--but know that all the pain and difficulty will make Liam even more precious to you!
Lol, and when he's a difficult teenager, you can guilt him with "I spent 5 DAYS in labor with you! Don't you speak to me that way!"
Congrats again!

He is very content. He does want to be held all the time but he is so easily consolable. Just pick him up and talk to him and he stops crying immediately. He only cries when you are changing his diaper or he is left in the basinette.
Otherwise, he really doesn't cry!
