I used to post here A LOT in the early 2000s. I was wondering if any of you frequent flyers from then are still posting and how you are doing?
My daughter is is college now..... finally. Lyme still has a significant effect on her life, but she is in school and is married. Such improvements!
Hope you have good stories to share! If you don't... I would still like to hear how you are doing.

I wouldn't call my daughter's story a true "success story"....(sorry. She is far from returning to her "normal life" of 10 years ago. Live is still hard! She's just better than what she was. She is off abxs and did not relapse back to her sickest years.
She has just gotten out of her wheel chair and was able to get married (to a very understanding guy who has health issues of his own)and go to college. Activitites of daily living are still hard for her, BUT she is able to pursue through it at her level (not "regular")!
I think LD will always be a part of her life - but at least she has a life outside her bedroom as she did for 7 years.
She is such a fighter!!!!! We are soooo very proud of her spirit thoughout this horror!!!!!

I was treated from 2000 to 2004 and have been off abx now for almost 5 yrs. I am doing very well!

Lynn, I wasn't on that early but many of the old timers that posted when I joined are either better,and are rarely on, or have gone to other Lyme sites or a few have been banned over bad manners, etc.
You could probably find some of them if you do a search for their names. lymemomtooo

I came down too sick to work or do household chore, drive, read a book, watch Tv, etc etc in Oct 2001.
Not sure when I signed on with lymenet. I think late 2002. Saw LLMD in 2003 and started treatment.
Life is much better than it was back then.
Able to get out in my power chair about 3 times a day for 10 min.
I have a service dog so she needs to get out and toilet.
I think the last year has been good for doing that. Before then, I would be throwing up and in a big fog when I took her out.
I also am able to do dishes about once a week now and be on my feet for 5 or 10 min while getting them in the DW or emptying the DW.
Still can't do this task whenever I want but thankful for when I am able.
Able to do the laundry now too. Again, not when I want but usually find one day a week I am able to at least put a load in.
Folding and putting it away takes a few days later or more.
Able to do my own grocery shopping now via the power chair and the sr van to transport me, the chair and my service dog.
Able to get to the pharmacy nearby in my power chair to pick up meds about once a month.
Still on abx....the less expensive ones as that is what insurance will provide.
When I try to go off of them, old symptoms return that I would rather they didn't do that.
Considering moving back to CA (in AZ now) so I can get medical help. The ball is rolling but there are a lot of doors that need to open to allow me to do this.
Moving is so much more complicated now, not like when I was working and had my health.
Sleeping through the night most nights now too. I think that started about 5 months ago when the primary doc prescribed gabapentin for me plus other pills I am taking.
Able to drive 10 or 15 min out of town now on a good day.
I feel it is taking me longer to regain my health do to the lack of money which is a catch 22 kind of thing.
But, doing the best I can with the resources I have and am thankful for them.
OK brain is going.
Glad to hear your daughter is in college and has a helpmate.

I am an oldtimer too. Can't say I am a success story, but maybe still being able to walk and talk should be considered a positive, for all the treatment I have had. Unfortunately, it is expensive IV treatment at this point and probably not sustainable forever. Not looking into the future very far for fear of what I will see
Nice to hear your daughter is able to carry on, has some accomplishments. Good for her, and for her family supporters.

guess I am that too.
I guess you can say I am the poster boy for treatment failure.
wasnt as bad as MOST here to start with. BUT most got better with TX,,,left me in the dust!!
Me ,I couldnt tell whether I was taking abx or not,,,no difference,no herx.
unlike most,,,every day is the same old stuff here,day in,day out,even keel if THAT is good or bad,who knows
